Newbie needs tires

I need to get new skins on the camaro. I really dont plan on taking to the track much but do need something with good road handling properities and a little street racing. Also I am using the stock wheels (98) Z-28,can I use larger tires than245-50/16?. I was at Discount tire today and they suggested BFG GForce Sports.I see a lot of guys using BFG's but not the sports. Went to Tire Rack. com and they get good reviews. Really need some education here. Thanks

if you want wider tires, you should get wider wheels.... getting 17x9 w/ 275/40-17 should be pretty cheap as a combo.... if you stay w/ the stock wheels, then stick with that size.
