I'm looking at a 2000 Trans Am(6M) with 63k miles on it. If I purchase it I'll be moving from the GTP/L67 community to here. I have a few questions:

What should I look for when I go see the vehicle tomorrow?

What is the weak link in the vehicle as far as reliability?

Modding: I wont mess with the internals, at the most I'll do intake/exhaust and maybe a tune, how will this adversely affect reliability?

Thanks!
Jim

When the car starts up, listen for any ticking in the valvetrain that speeds up and down with engine revving. Let the car warm up first though because ticking in the beginning could be piston slap which is fairly normal and common. As far as your mods go, intake and exhaust will have no effect on anything and you should see a nice gain with full intake and exhaust bolt ons. Reliaility wise, no problems at al. As far as a weak point, if it's a 6 speed, pushrods after some high revving will bent hence the ticking in the valvetrain. Rear end will hold up nicely but it is known as a weakpoint. Other than that, it is a nicely built car for stock
