This neat little gadget crossed my bench yesterday. I work for the Navy, in a physical/mechanical lab. I calibrated all kinds of pressure / temp. / tach / vibration / dimensional and optical stuff. This is the 1st time I’ve seen a hand held “oil checker” -- it’s digital w/ a green and red zone for good and bad. Just place a couple of drops of new (clean) oil of the same weight on the sensing cell, press test and then clean the sensor w/ a rag and some electro-contact cleaner spay – put your dirty oil from your dip stick on the sensing cell and push test again. BAAM. It tells you if the oil has any water/anti-freeze, metal particles, dirt, soot and fuel in it. Pretty Cool.
Only Uncle Sam could buy one….$1200
Even w/ the price of Royal Purple @ $7-10 qt, you would have to skip a lot of oil changes to pay for this baby!
