I would find a nice 230 range cam, with .585 or .595 lift and a 110-111lsa and a set of stage 3 heads and a good dyno tune.

cam only, im putting out 420+ hp with a 228/232/.595 - 110lsa cam...stock heads.

The truth is AFR are good but I have Patiort proformance and I have the same amount of RWHP as you are looking for but I got to put $1000 back in my pocket and I got roller rockers out of the deal too. Just food for thought

Best Patriot head for you budget wise would be the LS6 style Stage 2.
Stage 3 is for larger bore motors.

what about cam, I want it to be a daily driver, dont want much of an idle issue, whats the best bet? but want a good lope with max power

228/228 59x/59x 114
For a daily...maybe even just the 224/224.

TRex isn't going to be that daily driver friendly.
Check this one out...

I have a 232/234 .595.598 on a 112 and I would call it very DD friendly, here's a cold start clip before the tune. I'll get a new clip since the tune with cold start and warm idle if you want. http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j68/z_driver1/th_Movie.jpg (http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j68/z_driver1/?action=view&current=Movie.flv)

is the 112 lobe seperation to much, would it create bad idle problems

ONEBADZZ cam sounds awesome do you have heads, who is your cam made by? what kind of power range?

MISFIT

Low LSA doesnt give a BAD idle. LSA changes the lobe seperation, which moves the centerline in the intake and exhaust lobes. a low LSA gives more power down low and broadens the power band. it also creates more of a vacume in the intake, making the idle "lopey" its not a bad thing, some people like the sound....

more of an LSA, like 114-116 lowers the power level, reduces the vacume at idle, and will give less low end torque and power, and your powerband will lower.

sometimes nitrous cams have a high LSA for this very reason.... :)

I've been researching head/cam combo's, ran across what seems to be a decent deal with Patriot heads and cam from a company in Calif. Redline Perfomance Engineering. Anybody have any dealings with them?

It really seems that for a street vehicle Patriot heads with a good cam(which one?)stage II 11:1CR for us poor guys might be the best way to go. Texas Speed also has what appears to be a good package using Patriot heads.

I gotta Torquer v2 Cam....just like that other guy in the vid....sounds just like that....Mines not to driver friendly......but it would be better if i had a better tune to it....

Honestly drivability aint too bad....U just gotta get used to it.....Its kinda fun knowing sometimes that u know ur car and no one else really knows how to drive it......also no one can steal it lol without it stalling out :D! haha well at least mine....i got a shitty tune

Get a good tune and it will run sooo smooth. I had problems before the tune, but afterwards it runs very smooth. An M6 will run even better than our autos

installing a head and cam, and then running around untuned, is just asking for your shit to blowup. Why do so many people take this chance? especially after a cam install.....

I ran a 11.70@117.2 1.70 60' with nitto 555r tires245/50-16 with full bolt-ons, 2800 stall, 3.73 moser 12 bolt, and tr224/227 cam with ls6 heads. 23 mpg

Very daily driver able, should have went 3400 stall and a tsp v.2 cam.
Oh and 255 MT's tires
I will try the 3400 and v.2 cam next year to compare cam/ converter combos
and see how times/mpg differ

onebaddz, what does your car idle at? who did your tune? What else do you have on the car? I have the same cam, and have problems keeping it running with a cold start, and it likes to stumble after it is warmed up. Just curious...thanks.

Yeah, but he's got an extra $1000 bucks in his pocket! Question is, are the AFR's really worth twice the price? I'm researching heads too, but not everyone here has a wallet as fat as yours, INMY01TA, if that's what you're sportin' good for you! but for the rest of us, we're open to available options..
