Im going to purcase a torque arm and was wondering if spohns or bmr is better. Also will this take any time of my et, and how much will it roughly take off.

I second the vote for UMI.
They have quality products that imo cannot be beat.

both arms are basically the same. the neat thing with the spohn is the driveshaft loop that comes with it if you order it that way. hard to say how much lower your ET will. if anything, it'll make you 60ft more consistent.

umi for the price. i have the spohn chassis mounted. its pretty noisey and clunks on occasion, but i do have pretty good traction.

Does yours have the poly bushings or chromoly ends? Also did you get the drive shaft loop, and why does it clunk. Do you think your more likely to bust the rear with it? Sorry for all the questions

poly bushing, yes i had a loop, but i had to cut it off (long story) it clunks cause thats the nature of it. its just how they are. i dont think you'll break the rear. id think if anything, id would be the torque arm bracket that bolts to the pumpkin. whichever you get, be sure to get the longer bolts.

Does it come with longer bolts or are you supposed to use the stockers? How much longer bolts do I need if it doesnt come with them?

it doesnt come with it, but you can order them along with the new torque arm. they cost extra, but they're needed because the stockers dont reach through all the way.

Thanks bro, also did it help your et out and 60 ft out at all. Another thing off topic, im installing cutouts and wanted to know if its better to have two(after each header) or just one after the y merges?

to be honest, i havent got to take it to the track yet. ive got a few more things to fix then i should be there, but traction has increase like a mofo!! thats a tough one. i think its preference more than anything. if you dont have cats, then right after the merge...somewhere in the I pipe. if you have cats, then you could opt for the dual cutout before the cats.

I run the BMR with the relocation kit. No issues at all.

I have the BMR trak pak, with the torque arm mounted to a bar across the subframe connectors. I had the stock LCA's, and I took her to the drag the other Sunday and the BMR torque arm BROKE then BENT. I should post a pic of it. Albeit, I have beaten that car like a borrowed mule in the one year I have had it.
Actually, I am impressed the 10-bolt has held up. I got in touch with BMR, and we came to the conclusion that the stock LCA's contributed to most of the force being put on the torque arm. So, I ordered a new BMR torque arm, with the RELOCATED LCA brackets and new BMR LCA's. I shouldn't have any more traction issues, and it should be solid as a rock. I will do the install myself to make sure it is done right.
By the way, ALL BMR stuff comes in the Silver Vein color now. Looks kinda like Pewter.

Is the UMI cheaper than the BMR?

for the torque arm and the relocation kit it came out to 515 shipped. im pretty sure thats cheaper than the BMR.

Paid 430 shipped with new torque arm, relocation brackets, LCA's. I didn't have to buy the whole torque arm kit though, just the arm itself (or A-frame), without the eyenut thingys, it comes with a new poly bushing though!

Make sure you get the relocated LCA's, that will further strengthen your new torque arm and help prevent breakage. The stock LCA's are pure CRAP.

its the bushings that are crap. not the lcas themselves.

I like the Spohn stuff. Most tunnel mounted TA's will clunk cause the road and rear end noise is transmitted right thru the floor of the car.

Got my stuff in the mail yesterday. The new torque arm has a better strengthening bracket and is lighter. But it ain't no Silver Vein, more like Carbon Fiber colored. LIAR!

Unbalanced Engineering's is undoubtedly the best Torque Arm, but we decided to go with the UMI tunnel brace mounted adjustable torque arm...

I installed the torque arm and LCA's Saturday. I didn't do the relocation brackets b/c they didn't have brackets for the parking brake lines, which are highly necessary. It didn't come with a pinion angle gauge, so I eyeballed it to -2 to -3 degrees. Honestly, it looks more like -4 to -5 degrees, but I can't be sure.
Anyone know where I can get a pinion angle gauge?

a local hardware store should have it or harbor freight if there's one near ya.

i have lca's and brackets just waiting to put them on. and i'm surprised to hear that people have broken the edelbrock torque arms it seemed so much sturdier than the stamped steel stock one which was warped on mine
