This front-engine, RWD, IRS Camaro will offer a choice of manual and automatic transmissions and V-6 and V-8 engines...
This is why many of us scratch are heads in total confusion. I mean, here you have GM claiming multi-billion dollar losses, while pondering a possible merge with Ford, yet at the same time, they find the time to underline confirmation of our beloved Camaro's return. Not to mention, the implementation of IRS (which is a totally unnecessary added expense for them)...
A lot of us in the business world are convinced that their latest public outcry is simply the capitalistic way of justifying the cutting down of it's staff. In any event, I'm so happy that they publically admitted the Camaro's official return. I, as well as many others, just think they could use a better staff where it really counts... ;)

I cant figure out why they dont start now. People are givin all their money to Ford because there are no other options.

Don't try tp predict GM, think of what would be the best thing they could do, and expect a product a little short of that

any one know what a starting price might be?
It would have to be comparable to the price Mustang GT, since that's it's main competition, because if the bring the car back in the Mid-30s, nobody's gonna wanna spend that much, when they can get a V8 mustang for almost 10k less. I hope they're not stupid enough to price that car that high.

But it would go more against the higher model Mustang. It'll blow the doors and wheels off a Mustang GT seeing it's 100HP more!!! Seeing a nice optioned GT is about 30 they should be able to go 35 without much problem with the power level. Just not having that blue oval is worth a couple of grand.

But the majority of today's customers don't think like that, and also, one hundred additional horsepower (over the Mustang) is not really needed from the factory, as that's what the aftermarket is for. I'd rather pay twenty five grand for a brand new Camaro sporting 300 horsepower, while sinking the additional ten thousand into it the way that I want... as opposed to a factory 400+ horsepower Camaro for thirty five grand.
The majority of us on these boards are running sub eleven second passes at the track, for less than fifteen grand (car included), so paying twice that amount for a new Camaro isn't justifiable, unless your into bragging rights... ;)

Apparently its not going to, unfortunately.
I recently reas somewhere that the design of the roof (or something like that) makes the implementation of T-Tops unpracticle.

It would be nice to see them offer the LS7 or future LS8 in the SS.

theres no ls8 rumored, however, the ls9 is supposedly the new motor general motors is working on, these are speculation specs, so take away from them what you want, but the possible facts for the ls9 will be 8.3L (502ci), putting out somewhere around 900 horsepower, possible a OHC or DOHC which doesnt follow the normal pushrod configuration for the ls series, which would NOT make it a supercharged ls7 like i have heard some people saying, i dont understand that rumor, gm wouldnt slap a supercharger on an ls7 and name it a new ls motor, well, thats what i believe anyways

the compression ratio is too high in the ls7..so yes new heads and such and throw on a sc and they would call it a new engine. i hope the rumors about the ls9 are true..but 900hp would be hard as hell to drive..so i doubt that it will put out 900 from the factory.

I dunno how much this goes with the LS9 and what not but i was at the GM site yesterday and they were advertising a "LSX"(that is the name) engine and it claims to be able to support 1600 HP.... dunno too much about it. It listed a few specs there but don't remeber any off teh top of my head.

I don't think it's great looking, and would prefer it moving on into the future with a new image with traits from the past like the C6 did. I'm not a big retro fan though. I don't think it's ugly, but it could be better.
