Hey,
I recently ordered a magnaflow catback (5x8x18) system for my 95 Trans Am. It has 3inch tubing and the part number is M6615620. I was interested in ordering a high flow cat for the car to and wanted to know which one would be best with this catback system and my car. Will a high flow cat pass an emission inspection? Also, what O2 simulator will I need to buy with the high flow cat? I had heard that for my year Trans Am it needs two O2 sims, but I'm not sure. If you can help me, please be as specific about what I need as possible.
Thanks in advance.

Unless your in California your 95 has only 2 pre cat O2's and none after the cats.

Your non Cali car should only have one cat.

If all other emissions equipment is functional and the engine is healthy a HF cat will not effect your E test results.

O2 sims are only for cars with the cats removed...as far as I understand it highflow cats perform just as well as standard cats... and look at it this way, the cat on your car now is 10 years old, a new cat, highflow or not is going to outperform what you have in now, probably DECREASING you emission rates! Catalyst conversions arent free like any chemical conversion, the material in the cat's get "used up" over time and become far less efficient.

Or if you live in michigan.. just cut the cat out entirely like most people do here... "Thanks to no emission testing"

FYI, cutting cats out.. will not pass emissions.

However, High flow cats.. will pass in michigan and illinois.
Note: illinois has yearly emission testing.
Note: Michigan has no emission testing.
