I hear ya, I am into the old school amps also. I am running a mtx 2150x amp in my z28 now and it pounds. I found another one on ebay for $30 used, so bought it for no reason, been sitting since I bought it lol. I have a old school Orion amp extreme but not sure if it even works since I missplaced the special connectors they required for power, speakers etc.. I am thinking about getting a mtx 2300x amp now, but I would need some subs to handle all the power.

That MTX 2300 is bad ass. I use to have one, then I bought the MTX 6500 class D, its basically the same amp but just a tad newer.

New "surface mount" amps are junk!!!!! These kids now don't know what sound quality is!!!!!!:yup:

I just sold my Zeus Z700 for $100.00 It was an awsome amp in it's day. I think I have one other amp but it's from another hifonics line. I'll have to look for it.

I'm talking about OLD "REAL" HiFonics amps........They went bankrupt in late 93:cuss: and were bought out by Pyramid. So they went from being built by ZED Audio to Jap junk. If it's not Series V,VI,VII,or VIII it's not REAL HiFonics!!

Guy I used to know worked at a salvage yard and they would bring wreckd cars in there all the time that people would leave stuff in. They'd take a lot of it out and let him have it and man -- it was like an old school car audio museum. He had a couple of orion "red" 225's, punch 45s, 75s, and 150s, Autotek 100s, and some Phoenix Golds. He knew nothing about sound at all so he just had them just because they gave them away. It was crazy. I miss those old amps. No "protection", they'd just go till they burned up, which was usually hours upon hours of driving. Unless it was an Autotek that usually cut off after 30 minutes of driving around.

I bought my POWER 1000 from ROCKFORD when they were ROCKFORD for cost which was $2640. THAT'S A REAL1000 WATT AMP!!!!!

That hifonics thor on 2 8 ohm subs bridged was the man! I had the series 7 grey and that shit jammed, I later bought a newer hifonics what a pile of junk i paid 400 and gave it away free.
