sounds like the overdrive button. Shouldn't be too much of a difference

HE said that the car revs higher with it off True?

i told him to take it to the track when i go

is there something special about a formula car , it does seem to pull hard but not as much as my ls1

it should rev higher cause it's using different shift points. With it on, basically the shift points are lower for gas conservation. With it off, it's better for day to day in the city driving

The button does 2 things:
1) It raises the shift points slightly
2) It raises the line pressure, making the shift firmer
He should use it at the track.
The LS1 has more power than the LT1. Stock for stock, the LS1 will win every time. Dang it.

I drive around town and do little races with it off, but I turn it on if I want to get the maximum my little 2.73 rear end can put out. God I need new gears.

I thought the '01 Trans Am was suppose to have a "performance" shift mode too, according to lastofthebread.com but I havn't found anything on my car like that yet.

Although I've only had it for 2 days :*)

I have a 95 LT1 A4 TA with the tranny performance button. As the other guy said it ups line pressure making the car shift harder... I can drive slow with it on and it will still try to chirp the gears... haha. also, it takes A LOT less pressure on the gas pedal to make it downshift and throw you into high RPMs... and its supposed to make it hold shifts longer... but mine seems to make my car ALMOST hit my rev limiter... which I dont like... it sounds wierd. anyway... I heard the chevy version of our car doesnt have the button, their "transmission perform" button is always pressed. I like how we can turn ours off and drive smooth instead of sporty and chevys cant ;)
