View Full Version : Instrument Cluster Decal
Hey , just wondering how to remove gain access to my guage/instrument cluster ( speedometer, odometer, etc..) so that I can apply one of those small Firebird decals next to the RPM cluster on my 02 WS6. I heard it was easy and I saw some people talking about this subject a few months back but cant seem to find the info now. Any help would be appreciated.

Try this link. This guy did a good job posting pic's and some good detail instructions.

First, pull the plastic trim out. It's held in by clips, so pull slowly, so they don't break. Tilt the steering wheel down all the way. Remve the trim (kinda hard, but be patient.) Then there are some bolts, maybe 4 or 5 then the cluster (all gauges and clear lense.) Then the clear plastic lense pulls apart and you can now put the decal on. Reverse the steps and put back together. Don't worry about the mileage or gauge calibration either, as it stays the same thanks to the computer. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the info. Do I have to worry about the air bag accidentally deploying during this procedure? I heard someone talking about that before? Also you were talking about the mileage and the computer, but that doesn't get affected at all, if I am simply taking off the plastic lens for a few minutes to apply the decal right?? Got kinda confused when you started talkin about computer stuff.

haven't heard anything about the air bag, so I am not sure. I didn't have any problems though. To get inside the clear lens, you have to remove the whole cluster, where the tach, speedometer, gas, battery volts, mileage, etc. I was afraid that it would erase the mileage or mess up the guge calibration, but it won't, since these functions are stored in the computer, and not the cluster.

I was just doing a search on how to remove the cluster and this really helped on how to do it... however the info about the mileage being stored in the pcm is incorrect, the mileage IS kept in the gauge itself so I am stuck with the mileage on the used one... unless the dealership can do it.
