Does anyone have an opinion on these kits? I am thinking about buying one, and I m not sure on the specs of the kit. I think it is the basic kit. Does anyone know how much boost this has? How much hp i should gain. Take a look at my sig, do you think it will compliment my mods well? I will aslo be spraying in the future, is it possible. Thanks for an y info,

yea with your mods a turbo would be a great mod, idk about the cam tho you may benefit from a different cam, i'm not sure i kknow nothing about cams

it has as much boost as you want, probably 20 or so psi out of the stock turbo, they make upgrades for the kit too, be sure to get a boost controller

MY NAME IS RON & I'M NEW TO THIS FORUM.I HAVE A 2003 ZO6 CORVETTE W/STS TURBOS ON IT. JUST TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT THE FIRST THING I DID WAS CONTACT STS sales@ststurbo.com THEY GOT BACK TO ME RIGHT AWAY. JUST TELL THEM WHAT YOU HAVE & WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. I'VE ACTUALLY TALKED TO THE OWNER RICK A FEW TIMES . STS'S CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EXCELLENT. ALSO IN MY OPINION THE SYSTEM IS MOST DEPENDENT ON THE TUNE.

Benefits: Get to keep your A/C, Turbo is matched really well to the car, and with 5-7psi you'll feel the difference

Downfall: Oil issues.......I know STS is working on it but some have problems with oil leaking back out of the turbo.......I know it's been a problem on the F-body cars not sure about the Corvettes......My personal opinion is a little better sts oil pump to get the oil back to the pan would help......

I built mine off their concept so I can't really complain too much......I hear rumor that there is a company out there putting out a twin turbo system for an F-body.......

I'm thinking about trying one on a Firebird and putting them right off the manifolds.....had I not gone so far with mine I probably would of fabbed it up on mine......

Oh yea....if you live in an area where it rains a lot you have to consider that the air filter is located right by the rear tire........STS came out with a shield and a pre-filter that helps but if that thing gets into a lot of water it will suck it up quick, fast, and in a hurry........food for thought....

I am already at 450 rwhp. That is on a mustang dyno. So on a dynojet i am close to 500rwhp. If all I get is 50rwhp, then its not worth the money. I think I will just go with the nx direct port fuel rail system, I think it is called the nsx kit. thanks for the info guys.

I'll be damned....where are folks having the oil issue? I called Rick (STS Owner) after I read this and it's the first he has heard of this also. Now I am aware of some folks who wired their oil pumps up wrong...but that was an easy fix....and as far as water in the intake....Once again...show me one...I have yet to see one have any water issues....that is more a perception than reality..and I'm around a lot of em....

My guess is you would get another 100 @ 5#. But what is your CR?

I agree with ed- you should get atleast 100hp out of 5lbs. So then 550+rwhp for your car. I was guessing 500rwhp before because i was guessing how much power your current setup made.

That's funny because I talked to Rick about this also and I ended up getting a 8 page document on oil controll issues from STS........

I have it if you'd like me to email it to you...

I worked on one that had it and to this day there is always some that will come out.......I've checked everything........and I still can't figure it out....plus this forum is full of people saying the same thing.....now I will say you have to make very sure you run the oil return line OVER the axles because that is really the only protection you have against the oil coming back into the turbo after you turn the car off...........

I guess I'm lucky. I've only had one drop of oil come off the turbo. This was from parking overnight on a steep incline. Hasn't happened since. Jinx......

I dont doubt you...I run/ride and "play" with quite a few of the STS guys and Allen Nelson is a personal friend of mine...of course he is the tuner for STS....so when I read this I'm like WTF? I am aware of some oil issues however they have all been traced to installation issues....I have not heard of a single mechanical failure causing oil leakage issues....and Rick maybe like me is thinking your talking about some of the install issues....I dunno...

Oh I agree that some are install issues but I just dont like the fact that you're having to pump the oil back from the back of the car.......I still think it needs a better pump to get it out of there better but like I said....it cant be too bad....I built mine off of it.......but in all honesty I wish I had gone with a twin turbo setup.......but hey....I'm having fun with it...lol.....of course...it's not a daily driver and I have to check the weather to make sure it's not gonna rain......that da#$ air filter placement!!!!!!

I haven't had any oil issues other than a install malfunction. Twin turbos would be great but look at the price diff. The STS is a great kit but there are ways they could improve it.

Compression Ratio

wow that was fast. I believe it is 11.3 : 1, That is too high for a turbo, so I would have to change my pistons right? This is why I am going with the juice.

Thats pretty high, you may get away with 4-5# of Inter-cooled boost.

i have a sts turbo on my 2002 ws6 and i have had the oil problem twice so ar but went away, it is a problem
and im in florida and when we get our rain season i cant drive my car alot, i have a shield on mine and still get water coming in and in spits and sputters,

if sum1 hasnt had the problem then they are the lucky ones, but i do like sts , great power, and the sound on the turbo is like a jet goin down the road, only flaw i dont like is the air filter location and i only have 1 exhaust pipe , besides that i love it

I have had my STS system for 9 months and 7400 miles without any water issues. I have driven in snow storms and in heavy downpours. I had the shield on, but not the sock they give you to put around it and it is fine.

A lot of the oil issues can come from the checkvalve that STS has on the oil line to the turbo. If anything....gets caught in it it will hang the valve open and cause the oil to drain into the turbo and then you have a mess......would like to see a better valve on there but hey....they are fun when they are working right.....

I talked to Rick today about the checkvalve that feeds the oil to the turbo.....he said that they have upgraded that so hopefully that will help with the problem with it hanging open so easily...........

I have not had any oil issues either, the car is very well behaved on he highway. The only problem I had was a little hole in the piston from being too lean

I'm seeing under hood single and twin kits for $5,000 now. Don't do STS for the same price.
