93 6speed Z28 coupe... Supposed to weigh around 32-3400lbs?.... I put my car on the scale earlier today and it weighed 2425.7lbs...The scales were tested before and after and are in working order... The guy I bought my car from said the car was a retired Arizona State Police car... How would I go about finding out if this is true?... Or why my car weighs so much less than it should?

PS I still have power everything (windows, locks, seats ect.)

Your car DOES NOT weigh 2425 lbs. :sorry: 3425 is very realistic. The scale read wrong.. no ifs, ands, or buts about it

Well my friend put his 02TA on it right before me, it weighed 3573 (which seems right)... a 99TA went on after me weighed 3426(also seems right)... my car went on and weighed 2425 without me in it.. with me in it it said 2588 ( I weight 165lbs )... I figured the scale had been switched to a different form of measurement.. so we went back through the cars and the same numbers popped up...???

I'm not saying it does.. I'm telling you what the scale said. I'm asking why the scale gave a normal reading on 2 trans ams... and an off-the-wall number on my camaro?...because from what I've researched... even if you take out all the door guts, strip EVERYTHING you can... it's still not going to weigh that...

Did you put it on the slimfast diet? Your power-to-weight ratio would be off the wall crazy!

Yea I dunno what the deal is?... I'm assuming the scale is messed up somehow... ASSUMING maybe the way I've got my fan hooked up er the radio wires... something messed up it, which the 2 ta's didn't have? I'm lost.. I agree with 5.0's statement.

Actually, his car DOES weigh 2425 pounds. Plus another 1000 or so. :yup:

2400 pounds does seem a little far fetched. If it was a tropper car, I know they do weight reduction but not sure how much. I would first try another scale.

There is no weight reduction done on B4C cars. In fact, most end up being heavier than usual with police equipment on board. And I know of no state agencies that would do any sort of weight reduction after receiving the cars from Chevrolet.

wait i know what it might be...... a 6 cyl. lol is it a 6 or 8 still to light for either one

The difference between a 6 and 8 is minimal. You could take the entire LT1 engine and tranny OUT of the car, and it would still weigh more than 2425 pounds.

It's a 6speed LT1... I'm going to another scale soon to see whats really up with the weight... Then I'm gutting the car to see how low I can really go...

I Have A Bc4 And It Does Weigh Less Than The Street Cars From The Factory. But I Dont Think Its That Much. Mine Is Stripped And Still Weighs 2850 Lbs. I Still Have A Few More Pounds To Get Rid Of. The Weight Is The Reason The Police Camaros Will Go A Little Faster Than A Stock Z28.

First off, it is B4C, not BC4. Secondly, there is no factory "weight reduction" on these cars. If they weighed any less it was because they might not have had power options such as locks and windows. Otherwise, please show me a reliable source that documents what weight reduction was done on these cars.

I dunno about all the technical stuff... but my car runs right beside (or infront) of LS1 cars... for example my buddy has a 02 WS6 6speed with flowmaster catback, K&N CAI, with a good tire and we stay side by side... he pulls away by MAYBE a fender around 100-110mph, but he never gets any further out... another guy has a 99 T/A 6speed same mods, I pull him about 1 car length by 110mph... But to make everyone happy, a 99T/A 6speed with a cam, CAI, catback, SLP MAF, MSD wires and a few other things... Will bust my ass all day every day haha

Look where the RPO codes are - a B4C code will show if it's the special service coupe, which were used primarily by municipalities for their activities, such as Highway Patrol, etc...

nothing... someone said something about a police camaro should go a little faster than a stock LT1...

Those "someone said something" stories I dont really like. I sort of like facts to read in front of me.

ya theres no way your camaro could possibly weigh 2425 lbs. As said before even with the police package on it it would most likely end up weighing more than 3400 lbs. thats scale is most deffinately screwed. go to another scale and then you will find out what your cars true weight is.
