Post the numbers off of the diff. Should be able too run the code too identify the unit.

I was kinda hoping someone could look at the unit & know what type it is.someone who has dealt with this type unit before.diff. cover has been put back on,and axle code is no good because diff. carrier is 2002,& axle is 1999.you can click on" attached thumbnails "& get a better view,if that helps.

Can't tell you for sure, did you check the gear ratio while the cover was off? '99 and up F-bodies came with torsens - no clutches. TTT for ya.

yea ,the ratio is 3:42.youre probably right,it looks to have some gears in there in place of the typical spider gear setup.doesn't look like theres any clutches in there.I'm assuming this is the torsen carrier from what I'm hearing.by clicking on "attached thumbnails"you can see the gears in the carrier.I'm assuming that these units don't have clutches,is this correct?meaning that there is no need for the lube additive that would normally go in a typical clutch type limited slip axle.

My owners manual says to use the LSD additive for the G80 - some gear lubes say it's included and not needed - but I use it anyway.

It is a torsen diff. You can tell by the shape of the Puck that holds the axles in instead of the usual cross pin. I wouldn't see any reason to add the LSD additive considering there aren't any clutches in them. I don't run any additive in mine and haven't had any problems.
