why do you need to keep the stock cats and y? Shorty headers are only going to give you a small gain and aren't really worth the $$$. Get some long tubes.

Its a state inspection thing.

So what. longtubes are illegal in all states i think, but that doesn't stop anyone. I mean does your emissions actually do a visual of underneath your car. If not, then your good as long as no codes are flying. Im w/ 99bluez on this one. Go for the roaring unprecedented power of longtubes. You will not regret it!

Pacesetter, Edelbrock or JBA shorties, they will run you quite a few hundred dollars, which ever you choose to go with

Pacesetter makes emissions legal coated longtubes. Comes with EGR and AIR fittings. When your done, just have a muffler shop weld up and new cat. That's how you do it with emission control areas. It'll pass visual and sniff test.

Now that is what I need.

I really think you should seriously look at the EDELBROCKS...Man..they are really well made and coated very nicely..I have seen other's and they DO NOT compare...they are a little more $, but i doubt much.....think of the long run if u plan on keeping the car.....really man...:yup:

I say, if you gonna go through the trouble of any type of header install, just get the emissions longtubes. Plus, pacesetters coated are cheaper than most shorties even.

You can get mid tubes with cats from mac for a decent price.

I was told stock ls1 manifolds flow better then shorties...

Some probably do, have you seen the crazy designs of some of those shorties? There's more turns and bends in the shorties than in most turbo manifolds.

I was told stock ls1 manifolds flow better then shorties...

they do in regards the the Ls1 manifolds that are in corvettes, not F-body cars. they are completely different in design and flow characteristics.

I find it hard to believe the state won't allow long tubes. Just get a set that have the oxygen sensor bungs & other emissions provisions and you should be legal.

[QUOTE=BlackLT1Z28;378690]Pacesetter makes emissions legal coated longtubes. Comes with EGR and AIR fittings.

NO Longtubes are Emissions Legal. "Remove Cats or Replace"

Just because you have Air & Egr hookups it does not mean it is emissions legal. There are shorties that are not Carb approved and you will fail the visual.

I work in the Header manufacturing business.:)

I'd go nothing less than mid tubes....and as stated they are 50 state emmision legal....

I would think the evil Government is looking for the removal of any emissions equipment...so if you figured out how to retain everything including the cats...you could run tubes as long as you like. I don't think they give two shits how long the tubes are...just...hey...are all the gay fag emissions bits still hooked up and doing their job?
