Whats the best way to aviod a spun bearing?

This maybe be a dumb question, but my buddy keeps telling me to get ARP rod bolt. I do not hagve the money for the bolts, not will my motor be ran past 7k rpm. Will the stronger bolts help the motor not spin a bearing?

Proper oil pressure and keep the stock rev limiter unless you are built for the RPM you will run. 6200-6500 rpm... Do you actually know what would be involved in replacing rod bolts?

The motor is on an engine stand and is a short block with the oil pan off.

If your not going power adder and keep the stock rev limiter those lil 3/8" bolts will hold up.

why keep the stock rev limiter-what if an 02 with good rodbolts from the factory put in a huge cam,the stock rev limiter stops at 6200 rpm and my cam peaks at 6700 rpm...so my car wont last without rod bolts.

Then why are you asking if you should, when the answer is clear IMHO. I thought your engine was still in the car. If you have it all torn down why not just upgrade everything? Do it right only once, and you will have less headaches in the long run.

Oil pressure is most important on the bearing surfaces. If you have the engine apart I would save time and headache to just get everything checked and machined/polished. Also look into your pan setup, is it going to allow adequate oiling for what you are intending? High "G" drag racing or AutoXing will cause the oil to act in different ways (basically fill the pan up with water and take a cruise and you will see what happens when the engine is running at oil operating temperature...)

High flow, ported, and shimmed oil pump should also be on your build list.
