Hey all,
just a quick question. what are common methods of launching with an automatic? I've heard of revving to about 3k and dropping the e-brakes or just simply flooring the car when the green hits.
Also, i'm going to the drags for the first time and my times are going to be awful, i'm prepared for it.. but i have really basic boltons, cai, bellows, lid and a magnaflow exhaust. what times should i be hitting ? thansk in advance. btw, i have a 2k z28.

Well.. last night I started doing a small burnout then rev till the car starts to stand up and creak (about 1800-2k) then 3rd oragne punch it.. very little wheel spin (stock street tires) and been getting nice times.

Good 3 second burnout...Hold gas down until 2K then punch it on 3rd yellow...I cut low 2.1's on street tires.

I am taking my 02 Firehawk to the track tomorrow, It's a 20,000 mile, 345 h.p. slp optioned car with 3.23's in rear, auto, all stock. Its got the 17 inch hawk wheels v. t/a 16s . Just want a baseline before doing mods. I was asking what r you A4 guys are getting stock in the quarter? Going to N.Y.I.R.P. not sure what the elevation is there.
Oh yea , i was reading the past 60 ft.s,above, I was getting 2.1 2.0s all night with my 95 z28 LT1, with just a cai and catback A4. Hopefully do better with the hawk.
Well, just raced my car at the track 1000' track and my best was 11.32@96.34MPH w/ 60' of 2.1.
I held on the brakes and press the gas for around 900 rpm and still did a little spin, managed to do a few 2.1s. I need stickier tires like nittos.

Dude, u couldnt bring that thing up more than 900 rpm, I took the hawk up like I said I was going to do, all stock, launched at 1,700 (street bf' fusions) and got 2.0's flat. Like 2.01 etc, and barely spun with a little brake stand before stage. In the quarter, was 13.3 at 104, and 1/8 was a 8.6. I was estatic for a stock car. Just wanted a baseline before mods...

I launched the car 1200 rpm a few times and I keep getting 2.4s and 2.3s, so I lowered the launch to 900 and it went 2.1 consistantly. I wonder if I would just launch it w/o foot brake or stalling it I'd get a 2.0 or sub 2.0.

I just held mine around 1200 RPM's and matted it on the last light, pulled a few 2.0's but dipped under a time or two on Nitto DR's. Seems to do better that way, it needs a stall to get it in the right RPM range though. Soon....
