Hey guys, I hate that I have an automatic, nothing like driving an M6! Anyways, I'm looking to change the way my shifter looks, instead of having plain white text (P, N, R, D...) on a black background, I wanna get a flame overlay or maybe red text on a black background. Can't find any tho. Only saw one on eBay and it was just a white/silver background. Anyone know where I can buy em?

I have a silver one.. and made the letters red. Got mine from McEwan.

Yeah, theres a partial write up of it on my CarDomain.. I sanded the original, applied the overlay and painted the back of the lense with a translucent paint from Testors. Worked great.

Off topic, but if you have driving an automatic get a high stall converter. I hated my auto because I was used to the fast take offs, dumping the clutch, etc of a standard car. I have a 4400 stall and I stomp it and no M6 could ever touch the feeling I get.

its called "Stop Lt Red" and its product# 2724 from Testors. It's a gloss enamel.. I found mine at a hobby shop, but I know you can sometimes find it at Walmart. If all else fails Testors may have an online store?

Do I need to buy a thinner? And I don't want an overlay if I can just get away w/ painting the back of the original red. Will that work?

It will work just fine. And you dont need a thinner if you plan to brush it on. Only thinner if you want to airbrush it. Treat it just like any other enamel paint, but remember its translucent. They make an "Signal Amber" that is orange like our DRLs too. Works the same way :)
