Take a picture or have a friend and post it. I am sure someone will identify it for you.

I might be wrong but is it the EGR?

Sounds like it--is it wrapped in a material stuff.?.how big in diameter is it?..an inch or so ?--does it go into the intake at the very front.?.in the center..?..if yes to those..it is EGR and there is an O-RING that has been sucked loose...

sounds like he is talking about hte PCV hose. the 1" long piece that goes between the PCV and the intake. very famous for rotting. just use a piece of 3/8" diameter hose.
