Got a couple of questions about building an LS1. I'm not new to the car world, just fairly new to the LS1 realm. I've got a 68 Camaro project in the garage, but after tearing it down have realized that I can't afford to build it an go to school at the same time. So I'm going to try to get a little more power out of my T/A. What would be the best(cheapest) way to squeeze some more power out w/out N20? Cam seem to dominate in most of the replys that I've read. Any suggestions. Bone stock 2000 LS1 w/ 6 speed. Suggestions on intakes or heads? I won't be able to afford aftermarket alum. heads or an LSX intake, but something more along the lines of a used LS6 parts. What kinda HP/TQ range will be needed to start breaking stock parts? I have to use this car as a main means of transportation for a while so I'll need it to be dependable. Exhaust? Any less expense alternatives with decent-good results? Programmers? Throttle bodies? etc. I know this some elementary style questions, but I'm just not sure what works with these motors. I understand BBC, but I haven't fooled around with these at all. Thanks in advance. Jason Hopson

Lid, Free mods, is it a stick or auto? Gears help alot, Electric cutout is cheapest form of exhaust, headers, ypipe, torque converter if its an auto... LS6 intake is awesome, get some used LS6 heads, and then a decent sized cam and you will be in business. Your rear will break before you break the engine.

Sounds like your getting good advice. there are a couple ls1 books I would look at:

Chevy LS1/LS6 Performance (amazon / ebay)
How to Build Chevy LS1/LS6 V-8 (amazon / ebay)
