I keep seeing vettes and they are just so much sexier than my 2000 trans am. I'm curious to know where/how you found yours. Do they all have ls6 intakes or just a certian year up? My price range is about 23k. I'd like a triple black, M6 if at all possible. I guess 98-2000 range? Let me know, fellas.
also, all i know of is "autotrader.com" for finding cars...anyone else know, besides stealerships?

Mines black in and out and has a 6 speed, I bought it new but you should easily find one for that money as prices are dropping.

frc's are cheap (all are 99 00 models)... i ran across mine on a lot... got it for $21.5k with right at 35k... look in the like 2000ish models... actually ive heard you really want an 01 and up... i like mine and anything that is better in the later year models will be replaced when im done with it anyway...
when looking i know this sounds stupid... but pull the battery out and make sure the battery hasnt exploded in the car... mine has and now i need to replace my ground and lead wire b4 i start having probs with it... this seems to be a pretty common problem...
oh BTW all frc's are z51 6 speeds... they are like 150 pounds lighter than a targa, 15% stiffer, and i like the body lines better... i thought i would be pissed about now having a removable top, but i never even think about it...
oh and get HUD... its friggin sweet...

I might as well respond to that, that not wanting to buy a first year car usually applies in the begining to make sure there are no problems.
9 years later is a bit different, unless you mean because they try to improve on the new model each year after.
One thing the 97 has going is how few were made, roughly only 9,700 made.
Not since the late 50`s have so few vettes been made in a production year.

I had a 97, no really big issues. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. :)

Sucks that the early models came with those alloy rims and not the sexy thin-spoke chromies

The LS6 intake was included on all 2001-2004 C5 Corvettes.
!997-2000 Corvettes have the first design LS1 intake.
Do a search on www.cars.com for finding used Vette.
Good Luck!

I actually have one for sale. Its a 1999, black on black, with black z06 wheels w/chrome lip. Its an auto, and it has the 3.15's and its fast. It has the removable targa top(brand new) and a couple of bolt-ons too. If interested, PM me. It has 125k miles, mostly highway.

enticing, and thank's for the offer. however, i'm done salivating over the vette. I like my ws.6 and I've devoted a lot of love/hate/time/money/memories to it. It'd be like walking on a marriage that finally met solid ground if i sold it now. So i'll be keeping it. Good luck on your sale though!

Once you step up to Corvette ownership, you will never look back to the F-body.

i was the same way and i still do go through stages where i want a vette so bad. there is just something about the way the ws6 looks that keeps me from letting it go. i know the vette is a better overall car, but its all up to what you prefer. i'm happy with mine, but if i did upgrade it would have to be to a z06. a ws6 to a base c5 just doesnt seem worth it to me.

I agree with you too. I think the 98-02 WS6 is one of the top 5 best looking cars GM has made in the last 30 years. I'd own another one in a heartbeat. I'll be looking for one next year to drive as a daily driver. :yup:

ya. it really has a presense when you see it coming down the road, the opposite direction. its perfect. the c5 is classier and an overall beautiful car (IMO the best looking vette) too though. i think for the money, both cars offer amazing performance. i know the ws6 is alittle rough around the edges compared to the vette, but the f-bods are still no joke. i've got mine performing to where i'm happy and the looks are awesome, so its tough for me to think about selling it. i almost bought a c5 Z (even though it was an 01) and i wouldve likely kept it stock anyways, so i basically modded my ws6 (suspension, brakes, motor) and now my car performs well and still looks good. it might not be the best car out there, but i'm not tryin to compete, so if youre happy, then thats all that matters.
