I have a 2000 Z28 with hooker headers, 3.42 rear end, airbox, flowmaster exhaust, ported throttlebody, crane cam power tuner. What should I expect to run quarter mile time? From here what is the best way to get to mid 11's?

with 3.42 gears, i'm assuming M6 trans, so about 12.8ish.
best way to get to 11s, well that's up to you what's best. for me it is nitrous. all stock car i went 11.97.

If its a M6, put a moser 9" in the car, and suspension work. From experience having heads and cam with no supsension work and a stock rear end with 4:10's, is useless. Spinning ain't winning!

Yeah nitrous is the cheapest. You could also get a cam (Like the Magic Stick or TRex). That and the supporting mods (valve springs, retainers, etc...), would get you really deep in the 12's. I think if you did that and a little weight reduction you'd have an 11 sec. strip. Unless of course you know how to power shift well, then you won't need anything other then the cam and a tune.

All good suggestions here. The moral of the story is that there are several ways to go faster. How fast you go and which method you use depends on how much you want to spend. The cheapest is Nitrous $600+, Heads/Cam $3,600+, Blower/Cam $9,200+, Dyno Tune $450, Roll Bar/Cage $1,400, 'Built' motor $10,000-$26,000 (but the sky's the limit). These are just some rough estimates to get you thinking in the right ballparks, but can vary greatly depending on what else you do at the time and exactly what parts you opt to go with. For example you can spend $1,500 or $4,000 on heads. I have a $550 nitrous kit that I have around $1,000 tied up in so far and haven't even installed it yet.
If you want to go fast be prepared to dig deep or get sponsors with deep pockets. The days of getting a Keith Black 1000 horse Hemi for $5,000 are long gone.
