What year is your ride? Lt1's are famous for this issue, try pulling out the sensor on the rad and cleaning it up. Did you make sure there isnt any air in the system?

It's not overheating right? It's just throwing low cool light........ Pull the low cool sensor out it's held by retainer clip on top pass. side of rad. Clean it, it might be built up with crud... This might be the only thing you will need to do to fix low cool problem, maybe not. Had the same deal on mine while back, when i cleaned it, it would kill the low cool light for a while then it would throw it back on.. Had to replace the sensor that's all....... But then at least you will know that's your problem. They cost like $37.00 at the dealer :)

its a 98 ill try cleaning the sensor. when i drove to work today about 30 min the light came on and off twice but the temp stayed around 180, until about 5 min from work the temp went up to 210 deg. drove home and it stayed around 180, let it idle for about 15 min. and the temp only got to the first line after 160.....
thanks for the replies

Sounds like you have air in the system. Purge the air and that should cure your problem.

If it was an air pocket it would have overheat while at idle or driving, not throw a low coolant light on. His car is running normal. my PO..... :seesaw:
