Rebuilding engine got questions?

i currently have a 99 ss camaro that i just got out of the paint shop and it looks sweet pics coming soon. now i want to rebuild my engine to get more power. I was thinking of small cam ported and polished heads and a few more things plus bolt-ons. but i'm new this it will be my first time building an engine and I want to be pushing at least 400hp to the rear wheels with good mpg since its a daily so can some of u pros give me some suggestions.

thats not really rebuilding ;) so you want to add heads and a cam...you want 400 hp and good mpgs, get a 224 114 cam and a set of ported ls6 heads. that'll get you what you want.

with that cam what size stall will i need for the tranny

nothing huge. maybe a 32-3400.
