im not gonna tell you not to do it, to each his own... you need to know its expensive around $1500 to $2000 installed if i remeber correctly and on a camaro you have to trim fenders a bit... (dont know about a t/a)
places like wingdoors.com have them listed for $1000 for parts... just google lambo doors or vertical door kits and im sure you will find what you want...
i would say unless you have your car modded out pretty well... take that $2000 and put it into engine goodies or if you are interested in making your bird look better put it into wheels and tires...

I don't know why everyone is so opposed to it. To each his own is right, for some reason everyone wants to look exactly alike. Lambo doors do it, most of you would take one if you could I would bet so why not? It is setting the car apart and that is what we should all be doing.

I checked out the sight and I kinda like it. These doors are huge and make it hard to get in and out in a lot of places without hitting the door. Wings might solve that problem.

Oh and somebody 09. How in the hell is a mod homosexual? Do we have some confusion about what being homosexual involves:ughlaugh:
man, people dont like this mod eh?
always been a fan of lambo doors but now that i take a closer look these wouldent work too well for me...im relitivly tall and dont think that thered be enough clearence for my head to get in there without looking like a tard lol
and if its that pricy ill put it in the engine for sure, thought there would be a cheaper way around the situation.
thanks for the info!

Notice in the picture above that the fender was cut and the piece was molded to the mirror. Not sure I would ever want to cut my fenders up. To each his own, although it does look kinda cool.

Yea only drawback with the lambo doors and maros is that you would have to cut up your fenders.

well i guess they had to have done their homework and probably did alot of tests... but it just doesn't seem natural for a door that heavy to be supported like that.. it doesn't really look right either, i guess that comes down to opinion though.

What ever happened to if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all.
This is what I have seen about this kind of door. There are accentually two kinds of kits, the weld on and the bolt on. The bold on are vehicle specific. The weld on are universal. If you don’t buy crap you should get shocks that come with the hinges. There shocks will help with the weight of the door. Bolt on are much faster to install. There are a few companies you could go through they are listed below.
www.lambodoors.com
www.lsd-doors.com
www.decah.net
www.verticaldoors.com
www.gtfactory.jp
www.wingdoors.com
www.jtautostyle.com
Also if you go and pick up the August/September issue of DUB they have an article about the history and they go over a few of the places that make them…..OH and Terra Patrick is in there to but I bought it for the article on the doors….???

actually the most stress takes place when the door is horizontal... the support always has to take the same shear stress, but the moment force is much greater when the door is in its normal position...

I was also looking into it and even though most still open normally about 10 inches, I was told they wont let you run at a track with them in case you would flip over. Dont know how much truth is to that, if any but still kinda cool to me.

these doors are basically fiberglass. they're pretty light compared to my metal doors on my old Thirdgen.

Verticle door kits still open regularly to a certain degree, then go up. I think it's either vertical door kits or decah's kits that allow the door to open normally before going up. If I had the money laying around, I'd do it to my car.

theres all kinds of different lambo kits- I know JTautostyle.com has them for less than a G im pretty sure- They are based out of Rosemead california- Basically the kit is strong, but I think the bigger the shock the better- i would probably want to upgrade from the regular one- now somethin really pimpin would be suicide doors on a TA ... ANYONE have this or pics???

a lot of vert door kits don't allow for the really high door so you can get out. the silver t/a with a bird graphic is one I would NOT want on my t/a, but there are better ones, http://www.aerokits.net/. try that site, it has a lot of different stuff. I want the 'gullwing' or the diablo door kit. that looks even more unique IMO. if I had the cash I would do it definitely.

hey i got them on my 2001 trans am convertible. they look cool IMO the chicks love'm and the fellows hate'm!!!!! but they are a PAIN in the butt!!!! i've tried different shocks. some make the door shoot up and you can't hardly pull it down so i went to weaker shock and now i got to strain to push the door up. i think our doors are just to heavy. but autoloc.com does sell an automatic kit that makes the doors go up or down with the push of a button.

so yea, u got a thumbs up from ATC, only negative side i see is the cost.
btw, its really cool to see realistic guys on here.
to everyone that just immediately flamed the original poster: **#^%@#$ you. he didnt ask for opinions. its bullshit that ppl ask a question about a mod and immediately get flamed just cuz somebody else doesnt like it. saying u dont like it is one thing. tahts completely acceptable, to each is his own. but hes obviously pretty much decided on doing it, so dont try changing his mind, its not ur car
to everyone that just said "fuck it, do it"... rep points for u guys. thank you for respecting someone else's opinion and taste. these boards need more ppl like u. a guy shouldnt be too afraid of getting flamed to ask a question that he needs to ask.

This would be the problem for me.
If I had a Camaro....I wouldn't want to be linked to a Supra in any way. Two completely different rides.
The lambo door thing I just don't get. We don't have Lambo's. We have Camaro's and Firebird's. We have big, heavy, bulky doors to try to lift....
It is your own car. But even for free I wouldn't do it to mine.
For the price, I could still find ways to mod my car in the performance area. And mine is damn near bulletproof already.

i agree with u on most of that. i dont mind the winged doors. if they were free, id most likely have them. i just wouldnt spend $2k on it. yes the doors are heavy, but i did research and the hydraulics help lift it, so its almost feather-light lifting the doors
i do agree on working on performance first too. even on my car. id rather it be an ugly ass sleeper than a pretty, pussy car.
the supra thing, to each is his own. i woudlnt do it, but im not gonna tell him it looks like shit. i wouldnt mind it, as long as it wasnt my car.
no we dont have lambos... but, its just an appearance mod. its like, chromed out taillights... idk what they started on, but what if i called them alteza lights? zapfools got those doesnt he? ya know? not tryin to argue, cuz its all about opinion, thats just the way i think about it

im not close minded, but its ok that you think that. im into not mucking things up. there is a school of thought that believes things that arent really needed arent worth getting. sure i can appreciate a good looking set of wheels, but im more interested in how they will benefit my car from a performance stand point, not that wheels do much.
thats fine if you appreciate the work that someone puts into their car, but in my opinion neons are annoying and unnecessary. i also dont need alot of attention, which is what the majority of appearance mods are designed to do.
you listed 3 of the 5 things i listed and were in agreeance, so i dont see how i went too far. lambo doors serve absolutely no purpose. so youre going to spend over 2 thousand dollars on a door that swings upward? wow. hooray for america.
the reason these things are frowned upon is of what they symbolize, which is ricer culture, where the name of the game is to completely trash a car, muck it up, talk so much shit about how fast and cool it is, and get your doors blown off by a completely stock car. ricer culture believes for some reason that all this will improve their cars performance, and when called on it they say some "i want to be individual" shit. its a joke.
contrary to what you think, alot people who own muscle cars do race and atleast want to go faster. if this wasnt the case there would be no real reason to own a v8 in this day and age. sure some people like to cruise and dont drive these cars daily, but im fairly certain they have go fast parts as well as your appearance mods. anyone who races or likes going fast knows that who ever gets the 1320 the fastest is the way to seperate yourself. every ls1 f body owner can run 13s. not everyone at all can run 11s or 10s and below, so your statement has no truth.
look at lamborghini, the inspiration for this new craze. their doors are not heavy. those cars are built for speed and luxury which is how they justified the price tag. i could see if this mod made the doors lighter or something, but the doors of an f body are heavy. you will most definetly have sag from the hinges being too weak after a period of time.
muscle cars are about raw power, atleast to me. you wanna throw some chrome wheels and some tasteful vinyl on then go ahead, but muscle cars have gotten attention for one reason.....power.

this guys probably got them installed and is happy as hell. As far as 'ricer culture' you could say that about turbos, or superchargers and loud tail pipes. why not include loud paint jobs? 'Ricer culture' is people with no actual knowledge trying to get a reputation and playing car games too much. these kind of people make more professional car people, who happen to prefer import cars, look bad. There are people who have very nice imports and there there are 'ricers'. We have the same kind of people. I can't tell you how many 'fast' mustangs both look like crap and drive like it. and there's always some v6 f-body that looks like it fell off a cliff revving at anything with wheels.

basically what you're saying is that none of this is necessary. going faster isn't necessary. cause these cars already run 13's. so making them faster, isn't necessary. maybe we should all by ford escorts. cause a car's basic job is to go from point A to point B. that's really all that's necessary.
and many people, are trying to make these cars faster. trying to lower their times. so essentially, if you're doing the same thing, whether you're running 10's or 11's, you're doing the same thing everyone else is trying to do. there's nothing different about that.
and these doors arent "that" heavy. they're probably the same weight as the lambo doors. every one says our doors are so heavy. if we were talking third gen cars, yeah, i'd agree with you. those things were made outta metal.
fourth gen doors are a fiberglass composite or some shit.. they don't "dent" they break.

i remember the dude asking this. i just want to know if he went through with it.. people always ask questions about something different, or over the top, and then we never get an update on if they went through with it or not.
and i STILL want to know about O'dude's airbags.
