Nothing against getting an aftermarket ss or ws6 hood, but please dont go around saying you have an ss or ws6 and put fake badges on it if its really not one. What really ticks me off is guys with V6 camaros and firebirds that actually put these hoods and badges on their cars, I mean really guys wtf is this crap. I dont mind them because they look great, but please dont lie and put badges and stuff like that on your car if its not, if you aint got the scratch save up for that beyatch and please dont pose.:toetap:

I think it's quite funny when a V6 is running around as a poser. Its pretty cool pulling up next to one and seeing an SS with a single exhaust pipe coming out the back and having no V8 rumble. I always roll down the window and spark a very humorous conversation. They don't like it too much though when you point and laugh.

Agreed on the badges part. People should not make there car out to be somehting it isn't. Like when you see Benzes with the AMG badges that arent real AMG's..come on...
Anyways as far as hood go poeple can put whatever they want...

I see cars like this all the time around here, there's a red vert with an SS badge in the middle of the back, and they're upside down on the fenders. Not to mention he has the stock hood and exhaust. I felt the need to write a note to him explaining how the entire camaro community was disappointed in him.
On the flip, I've replaced my emblems with 67/69 emblems, and the car is about to get a 2nd set of mufflers (that'll equal 4), so I'm looking forward to an import pulling up next to me and revving...following by my flip of the dual cutouts and a lot of embarassment. Ah, and just to answer the question before it's asked, I just moved into a new townhouse and I'm already angering the retired neighbors, so I figure I'd rather quite the beast down then deal with disgruntled oldies again.

i bought a base TA because that was all i could afford at the time.... i bought a GM WS6 hood, GM WS6 Wheels, replaced the shifter, intake, cat back.. so besides the suspension (which no one could tell the diff anyway, and i plan to do soon) the car is identical to a WS6... Fuckin rights i put a WS6 badge on it
when asked i say it is a clone... but who the fuck cares if it has the badge or not if it looks identical and performs identical?

I have a ss hood and spoiler on my V6 but I also have RS badges on it im not trying to act like I have a real SS just like the look im also about to get hockey stripes with 3800 writing on it so everyone knows its a v6. But once I add my supercharger and a few other planned performance mods I will be about as fast as one. I actually want people to know its a V6 so when I get all my mods done people wont belive how fast my V6 is and will underestimate it.

i agree with Ed...the only thing on my car is the Bird imprint in the liscense plate and my driver headlight says PONTIAC...thats it....it dont look like a Ram Air...dont sound like it...and def got rid of that poor excuse for downforce that GM called a spoiler...someone asked me if i had a V6 the other day...I did exactly what ProwlerZ said...flipped open the cutouts...turn off the TCS and left lots of smoke and rocks as gifts...

I used to think that any camaro without the z28 or ss badge just doesn't seem to have that mystique about it. Which i've changed my mind too. Now, as Ed has done, i've thought about removing the badges, and at times i even contimplate taking off the loudmouth exhuast and put a facotory exhaust with a cut-out so people don't hear me coming or so they don't try and race me all the time. But i just can't bring myself to take off the badges.
There was a time i wanted the SS hood, then the SS rear wing, but now im looking to get the Ultra-Z hood, though I already got the 35th Anniv. Sp. Ed. SS rims, but i wouldn't dare put on the SS badges, but don't think i didn't think about doing this early on when i got my camaro, but i don't think i've ever put on a fake badge.
I've seen people actually put a z29 emblem when they get a SS hood and rear wing, i think thats cool.

09-07-2006, 01:58 AM
Ferocity I get exactly the opposite, nobody wants to race me cause of how my car looks and sounds (true duals). When it was stock I got challenged all the time. As for posers, that is one reason why I went with the slp hood instead of ws6 but if someone put everything on their car that ws6 or ss had then and only then I say they have a right to a badge.

the worst ive ever seen is this guy at a show here in dallas. everyone approched this car in amazment because it was a BLACK 35th aniv. SS. interior stitching ,floor mats, exterior stripes, wheels..... if it came on the 35th aniv. ss he had it on his car. well turns out the SS stood for slow six. he had his hood popped at the show and people would walk by and do a double take cause they were expecting to see an ls1 not a 3800. it was pretty funny

I don't have a problem with V8's converting to WS6 or SS options, because they can represent, V6's cannot. So please don't! As you make life difficult for all us V8 people who have to "fix" the problem you caused, after a ricer, bimmer etc. comes along and says WS6 or SS are slow, because they beat your V6 possing as a V8!:kick:
Now, regarding the badge issue. I blame Pontiac for this whole mess, as they could have called the V6's WS6 and V8's WS8. I know it makes too much sense, that is probably why they didn't do it!:brick: Also, we wouldn't have to deal with this whole WS7, WS9 etc. superiority issue.:moon:
Also, if people insist on utilizing any badge with a number higher than WS6, which the general public assumes, as logic would dictate is superior than WS6all I ask is be able to back it up! i.e. supercharged, NOS, LS2, LS6, LS7 etc.
Additionally, some people say, its your car do what you want to it. Well, that is true, of course. However, your not showing any respect or consideration to the "brotherhood" and remember, it goes both ways. So, don't expect or get upset, if you don't get any in return.

I was once going to change my z28 into an SS. I currently have the SS hood on the car, then I realized something. I liked the car stock. It has the sports apperance package, it looks different than a standard Camaro, or SS. I like that, and I am proud of that fact. I just got a stock hood, and I am looking for the stock front gfx.

I don't really see a point of leaving the emblems off if you've already done the hood & wing. It's going to look like an SS at first sight anyways, so you might as well fool the crowd and finish the entire look w/ the emblems on it. It's all in fun anyways, plus it's not as distinctive of a difference as posing a Mustang GT as a Cobra...and not swapping to a Cobra motor. Just my .2

How is it that it is more acceptable to badge a first gen then it is a 4th gen????

Not trying to start an argument, but.......wait, ya I am!!
This thread topic is cool, but the original post is stupid.
It is not a kill story at all. It's an upgrades story.
Anyway.... Some people were not lucky enough to get the top of the line model car or truck, but they still want there automobile to look its best.
Just because you weren't born a stud, doesn't mean you shouldn't work out and better yourself.
As long as people don't lie and say it's a real ws6 or ss when asked, I say go ahead and put on all the badges and hoods and wheels on your ride, which you paid for with your money.
If I want to turn my escort into an escort GT, with a supra wing and 20 inch wheels, it's my buisness, so I'll do what I like, Got it?
True but by putting the badges on you are lieing who's gonna ask someone I mean me or you might, but not the dumbass in the fixed up civic that's gonna run around telling everyone he blows the doors of ss camaro's. I think this is the main reason for the hate people will group all ss and ws6 together if they can so it's giving the ss and ws6 a bad name. It's your car but if you gonna do that you might as well be one of those ricers that put type R symbols on there stock honda.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a Base Z28 or Trans-Am and badging it as an SS or WS6. It's been going on since the '60's my friend, and it doesn't give anyone a bad name. An LS1 Z28 can do the same thing an SS can. Pretty much besides the handling package it's virtually the same thing anyways from a performance stand point. It was even really popular for the Ford guys back in the '90's to convert their GT's to Cobra's...nothing wrong with that at all.

Oh...well that's an entirely different story. If a V6 driver wanted to put SS emblems on his Camaro that would be his choice. But I don't really see the point, as he wouldn't be able to back that badge up for sh*t.

I ran into a guy at a local car show this weekend. He had a CTS-V and a Lingenfelter performance badge under the hood so I asked him what package he had done. The look on his face was priceless, and he goes "uhhhhhhh, I have a skip shift eliminator from them" I took just about everything in me to not laugh. Seeing that was the only non stock thing on the whole car I was thinking why even put it on. Sorry a bit different, but still needless badging that makes people think there's more than there really is.

I added my ram air hood on my TA (non ws6) but got all my regular badges and even the side molding. I kinda like my molding on it. But i can back mine hood up with a V8

This thread will never die!
For what it's worth, I've got an aftermarket SS spoiler, VFN Sunoco hood, and aftermarket chrome Z28 badges proudly displayed. I can't think of any reason to make a Z28 look like an SS anyway, even as a clone. The SS guys are "stuck" with their hoods (seriously, why change it anyway?) while the Z28 guys can opt for the Ultra Z, Sunoco, :uzi:Transformer, etc. And still let it be a Z28. Plus, the aftermarket spoiler options are abundant as well.
http://www.fquick.com/Hoss2000Z28
My advice for anybody wanting a Camaro that looks exactly like an SS is to save up a little extra over a Z28 and get one! Hell, you would save money in the long run in not having to buy, ship and paint those parts.
As for my feathered brothers and sisters, I have to admit that there is no aftermarket hood for you that looks as menacing and purposeful as the WS.6 hood. Pontiac struck gold with that design, pure and simple. I have to give you WS.7 folks a pass on that.

No, you can buy a Z28, mod it to look like an SS and still have 2-3K left. Trust me! SS's go for alot more than Z28's do! Fact!! Yeah, you can get lucky and find a killer deal, but chances are it is a P.O.S. !

Totally agree. I still see nothing wrong with badging. If the import and Mustang guys can do it, why can't we.

there is a big difference between sticking an SS badge on a ls1 camaro with an SS hood and spoiler/wheels etc and sticking a nissan skyline GTR badge on a stock v6 mustang
this whole thread is pointless...

^^Agreed! I'm not all for badging a car with GT-R emblems or anything like that, however...this topic is getting out of control....and since when is it compared to badging your SS, WS6 or WS7 or your Z28,29,51,82,etc....
Everyone likes what they like, not everyone is going to agree with what you do...its your car...do whatever the fuck you want to do to it.......and thats it!
...Unless your sportin spinner rims on your F-body, in which case, IMO, You should be shot where you stand!
I think maybe its time for a MOD to close this thread....before it starts getting into turning an f-body into a Jet!
Peace out

I was just going through threads and came aross this one. I dont really look at the dates. That Poser Mustang GTR, OMFG!! You cant be that stupid. No way. That just blows my mind what guy said in the youtube clip. Turbo rotary headers 11 seconds!!?? I damn near pissed my pants!!
Anyway, gotta agree with the "its your car, do what you want" crowd. HOWEVER!! dont get upset when people look at you like you got a small child growing out of your forehead! Like a very important person i cant remember cause its been a while since ive been in school said, "Just cause you can do it, doesnt mean you should!"
One mod I dont get too much is why people take off the side moldings? I actually didnt notice i had a the driver side fender piece missing until about a month after I had the car. Dont get it.
