I have an 02 WS6, auto, BG ram air, slp box, k&N air filter, and Dynomax cat back and QTP cutout. What do you guys do?

Also thinking about add Pacsseter headers and ORY, will this give me a good bump in power? THanks

I don't have TC, but most will tell you to turn it off.

And since you're are an auto, Torque Converter first.

if its a race from a roll... i dont bother turning it off, but from a dig the TCS will slow you down a little bit

slow you down a lot! i left it on and lined up, dead stop on an open road against an auto SS, and that TCS totally bogged me down by like 5 cars! Definatly run with it off.

True.
I have TCS and when I first got my car I raced with it on for a bit. but then I got used to turning it off. Now I race with it off. It takes time but eventually "You learn to control the pow wa:flex: "

well you gotta know how it works to know why we dont like it, it engages the brakes and reduces throttle position, therefore if we run our cars at the track and start to get a little wheel slip (not a huge problem) with the tc on we will experience undesired braking and throttle decrease

it was an option... there are many without it

i have a base TA with traction control, its not just a WS6 thing

Is there a certain way to race with an a4(like break tourque a little) or should you just nail it? Thanks for the help, i just wanna get the most out of it.

You should start a new forum for that Q. But I've always used break torque.:yup: its the way to go. My opinion.

yeah on stangs its a little bit different. i think when the tires start to spin the engine will cut power to them by reducing the flow of fuel.

If its on, its because I died driving it!
Kinda like ABS I disable that really quick too, the system is not good enough from the factory.

hell, l raced with c 55 amg (posted here if you remmeber) and my tcs was on (l wasnt used to the car so l forgot) and l put a nose on him at first gear and all the way through the 2nd gear we were dead even. so if l would have turn the tcs off, l could have hang with him pretty good maybe right?

If they don't have Tc.... they're automatic XD Trust me.... mine's Auto..... Thinking about getting a 2002 with a 6 speed though.... to add to the collection.... have a 91 form and 2000 sw6....

BTW.... why the hell are you comparing a Mustang to a Firebird on a low-end start? Mustang pull like a biotch in a race, and they never recover...

I don't have a choice - I don't have TC :)

Just an empty slot where the switch would normally be...

I guess it was an option/delete, and the original owner didn't want it.

only in rain. otherwise off

also I think it can be good to teach you how to do the best take off.
basically if you spin too much( I think with just one wheel) it'll kick in and slow you down but if both tires are spinning it doesn't always kick in and you might still take off nicely.

it can teach you how to launch just right without spinnng. so if you spin too much it'll kick in, and if you take off just right, it won't.

that's the way I use it, and after you're used ot it pretty good, just turn it off.

7camaro7
10-16-2006, 03:06 PM
As soon as I hopped in mine the other day I turned it off and hit a few on ramps to the high way and I swear it seems a little faster with it off! I basically left it in first as I was getting on the highway behind this car. I let them get a long way down the road then gunned it, and I'll put it like this... it put a little more fear in my heart again because I took off so fast! I love how at just after first gear you're already doing highway speeds and just into 2nd, you're already speeding.

jwindbigler
10-18-2006, 06:21 AM
definately off, like everyone has said, it boggs you down biggtime!!

7camaro7
10-18-2006, 08:58 AM
with v6s it only decreases throttle and with v8s it decreases throttle and applies the brakes, I read that in the instruction manual. So that's why its worse on our v8s

It should be right next to the fog light switch. (ASR)

owners manual is a good thing to read over and over. It could also be SGS on you car. Which would be to the right of your fog light switch.

JwMonE99

Yea right next to the fog lights I have a botton that says SGS but I thought that was for snow or second gear start or some shit like that

auto, off. And my personal fave is to spin the rear tires a bit before we leave the line for that extra intimidation factor, now that i think about it... i think ive only lost to a vette... but... its a vette so i knew i was boned from the start.

djvaly
12-03-2006, 12:59 PM
depends what mods u got, vette, speaking of c5 and down are just 200-300lbs lighter, but if u got some lid and cai u can take it. driver's race c5 vs TA at that point if c5 is stock.. I'm not intimidated by no vette, I give it all I got, then if I beat them, hey I send them back to the shop for more mods ;)

Formula_LS1
12-03-2006, 01:03 PM
lol the vette i lost to the other day got the jump on me. We were lined up, flag went down, he got the jump and i had to double clutch just to get up to his door. dont get me wrong, my bird can haul. Close race, but the vette got the win... and honestly... when i see a vette i kind of cower a bit.

... maybe cause you think he's modded to hell, but most c5 or c6 that are still in warranty from factory don't do much.. LT H and Y, catback.. they usually don't do heads/cam if they are pretty new,, they want to keep that factory warranty.. ;) so... keep ya chin up... ;)

sweet, guess i'll try a little harder next time, lol... anyway what are the hp differences from stock WS6 and stock c6?

djvaly

sweet, guess i'll try a little harder next time, lol... anyway what are the hp differences from stock WS6 and stock c6?

ws6 ans c5 are both LS1 engines, 300-305rwhp stock (350 at crank). the c5 is 250 lbs lighter without the driver.

the c6 is LS2 engine, 340-345rwhp stock (400 at crank). c6 is also 300 lbs lighter..

I did some math on it and looking at some general 1/4 times and rwhp..
it take about 100lbs for every additional 10-12rwhp, then a additional 10-12rwhp will shave off about .1 at 1/4mi.. this is a general idea but works most of the times, also depends what torque, tires, gears, stall etc the car has...

00TAWS6
12-03-2006, 06:16 PM
Well, I know I had a stock WS6, and never got out ran by a c5 or c4(stock that is). I was running a 8.5 at 81-83 mph is an 1/8th with a lid and that's it. The car was bone stock. The thing that really help's us f-body's is that c5's have a 273 gear in the rear(i think). They have a highway gear.

Jimmy
