kick down?

once in awhile my 4l60e won't kick down a gear...i'll gun it and it'll just slowly go up in speed without dropping down. Does the speed you're going when you hit it have anything to do with this? it seems to do it at highway speeds...thnx

the shift point is right around55-65mph on the highway and anything over 68-69 it wont shift down, thats it feels on my car.

The owners manual says that if you're doing over 35 mph, 50% throttle will kick it down a gear, and that over 35 mph requires 100% WOT to kick it down.

Who am I to argue with the owners manual?
