Removing T-bar shifter handle

Anyone done this? looks like a C clip in the back of the shifter... but don't see a way to get it off. I hate the t-bar.. and have a shifter from an '82 T/A that I would like to put on. I know that is from a 3 speed and mine is a 4.. but I just moddified my Camaro shifter shaft (the car the handle is currently on) so that it would fit. Any help?

Yes, ..., Simply get under the c-clip with a small screwdriver, or something & pull it straight out. (A dental pick works too, ...)
