clay bar WOW!!!

just thought id share with everyone my experience yesterday....just clay bar'd my car the first time with mcguires claybar/detail spray combo.......im sure every bar works jsut the same though......only took me about 45 mins and the results are AMAZING....if anyone out there hasnt clay bar'd there car before try it....my paint is sooo buttery smooth alll over..especially that rear bumper thats always been so rough .....thats it..had to share :D

Just make sure to wax and polish it, it feels great, but it's unprotected right. You gotta keep it looking great.

Ive easily gone in and spent $150 on shit to clean it in one visit to the auto parts store.. detailer..wax..rags.. chamouiex..california water blade.. california dust mop... tire shine .. chrome cleaner .. mothers polish ball..and now after reading this i need to go get a damn clay bar haha

You must have did something wrong. Because claybar removes contaminants from the paint. Wax protects.

:yup: Claybar stripes all the old wax and other debris so you'll want to wax when your done to make sure that your paint is protected and has that deep glossy shine.

maybe i dunno i followed the directions from the box it came with... i just hear so much hype i guess i was expecting too much from it...my front bumper just always looks like crap and i was hoping that it would clean it up a bit but i honestly didn't even notice a difference

You ever rub your fingers along your rear bumper? You know how rough it can get. Now use a claybar over it, and it will feel so smooth without any effort.

'Cause I know the store where I work carries the little Meguiar's bar kit for like $17 and I was thinking of picking one up.

It just seems nice since it comes with not only the bar but the wax and (I think) the spray on detailer as well.

Claybar removes stuck on particles. It will not remove all of your wax. The right way of detailing your paint would be to start with claying, then a full regimen of a paint cleaner, then a polish. The paint should be very clean and swirl mark free before you move onto your wax or sealant of your choice.

You don't have to clay the car every time you replenish your wax or synthetic coating, unless your car is subject to a lot of airborne particles (I would try to limit the amount of times you clay, being that too much may cause streaking or marr marks). If you are meticulous about your paint, you could get away with claying just one time per season (or when you start over by stripping off the old wax and starting new with a wax or sealant).

Clays are a great cleaning tool to have when you sometimes get into a situation with stuck on stuff.

i had spots all over my car after leaving it at a shop for 2 weeks, had to use the clay bar to get it off... i know it is a no no, but i had to use it like a scrub brush to get it off... zainoed it up and it looks amazing

Ive used meguiars and mothers. Both work great. With meguiars you get an extra clay bar.

A clay bar removes contamination,oxidation and other eniviormental fallout that washing and waxing will not. Run your hand over the paint and if it feels rough, then you need to clay the car. After claying the paint ,it will feel like butter.
