Nos on high mileage engine?

I just recently purchased a '99 trans am with 113k, it had to of been adult driven, over 40yrs, no mods and drives flawless. How much nos do you think is too much, i was thinking of a 50-75 shot dry. Ive ran as much as 85shot in my v6, so im familiar with nos, just wanted to get some other opinions.

If its been taken care of you can dump a good amount of nos into the engine. I've heard of t/a with 150,000 miles on it run 75 dry shot.
113k city miles or high way miles?

you can still run the 125 dry shot. just do a check up on the ignition and fuel system.

Definitely have the fuel system checked, you want to be sure the pump is up to providing the necessary fuel. If you go WOT and pump NOS in and the fuel pump can't keep up you could go lean which = new motor.

Maybe also a compression and leakdown test on the motor to ensure it's healthy?

Also, I'd probably want to fuel pressure gauge in the cabin to keep an eye on things too.

Oh and make sure the cooling system is in good order. :)

yes it can. so long as it's working as well.

That would probably be a good safety net. Don't have too much experience with these, but it sounds like a fuel pressure switch that activates below a certain pressure level to cut NOS. Sounds good in theory, but I don't know much else about those setups.

There are probably plenty more NOS guys that can speak to that though.

ive got the ny-trex triple threat kit that i purchased from speedtweekerz and it included the switch. i would definitely recommend the switch to you especially with the dry kit. it will screw right on to the fuel rail at the schrader valve which will need to be removed, but that is simple enough. i am running a wet kit with 125 shot on 95,000 mile engine and had about 7-8 bottles thru it. i actually think it has made it run better off the bottle. must have clean up some carbon deposits?

I agree with huggerz28...cleans the top of the motor...my car only has 73k miles, but I have been running a 150 wet for a long time now. I would work your way up and see if you can find someone to monitor the knock and timing retard on one of the programs like Auto Tap. This will let you know how your car is handling the extra fuel and juice. Have fun...I bet you will be okay. Start with 50 and go up to 150 wet. NX is my choice.

There are a few guy I know in Jax FL that run nitrous on high mileage cars. One guy is running 175 wet on his 2001?? Ram Air M6 T/A and it has around 135k miles. Very fast car. Then there is another guy that had a 2000 M6 T/A that had the nitrous in a bag dry kit. He took the jet completly out of the nozzle and was running around racing people for a few months, Neither one of these guy had ANY problems running that on their cars. Both cars are still running very strong. The Ram Air is still going strong enough to run 12.4 on motor and still holds up to the spray!

I had a 98 ss and put 150 shot wet nxkit 130000, no problems

I have a 2000 SS with 113,000 miles. I spray a 125 shot with 26* of timing with autolite 103 plugs. AFR is tuned to 12.8:1 n/a. The most KR that has been seen n/a is .5* and my ORY was banging.
