Used paper for a template, then cut them out using an exacto blade.
I used foam board, i guess that's what it is. basically it's kinda like cardboard with foam in the middle. i used black so that it doens't show on the t tops. i'm going to be putting a camaro emblem on them, then covering them in headliner material in the near future.

helps keep the leather seats cool.

would any one be interested in a set for say $35 bucks?

That's a good idea.
I only wish i had t-tops.:(

I think they would look better if you made the 'M' more narrow so it's the same width as the rest of the letters....:dunno:

yeah, i printed up the letters off the net. i think it came from bfrank... something or another.

Nice job...and way to use that entrepreneurial spirit!

instead of white on black, woulda been cool if you could make a letter impression on the black-like it's embossed. I think the Black n white is to contrasty for interior. Cool idea, agree on the width of the M

it's only white until i get the headliner material to recover it.

I'm interested post up some pics when you have a finished product. Will you be able to match the interior color?

i'll probably only be able to get black, and grey headliner material.

ummm I think that white logo and all looks very tacky.. if you have a nice looking interior then two huge white chevrolet emblems gleeming on your ceiling and big white letters..

I dunno bout the rest of you but my t-top shades came with the car when I ordered mine

ONCE AGAIN, FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T READ. THIS IS ONLY TEMPORARY. I AM GOING TO COVER THEM WITH GREY HEADLINER MATERIAL! this is just step two, of three steps.

and unlike you, many of us did not "order" our car.

I get it, I like the idea. cover it in material so it's raised in the shape of the letters, we've all seen it before on other stuff.

I can read but it is what it is .. generic looking and cheap.. to each their own but Id rather add to the cars look rather than take away from it. Some may want to bootleg pieces for your car .. kudos to you

once it's covered it won't look any different than the "factory" ones..

I like it. I think it looks good and anything that makes your car "yours" is something to be proud of! I see where you are going with it and ya know, I bought my car used and the covers didn't come with it.... So, for those of us who don't feel like ordering them from the dealership or finding them on ebay, we gotta find the creativity in us and let it flow! I wanna see a finished product and I may very well be interested in a pair as well! :yup:

Nice going MOD.... I don't think he should be bashed at all!

I dont see anyone being bashed except for the guy who was called an asshole... by "KyleLs1" who interjected ranting and raving about the guys posts. Why would something be done to someone defending themselves from being called out as being an asshole for him not liking the quality of these inserts?:nono: Is this the way this forum works?

Good job sgt0704. I love to read up on DIY jobs too. I'm looking at doing something similar in the boot/trunk space of my SS to hide storage compartments. I'd love to see the pics of the finished product...

Cheers Bill

i'll probably go get the material this weekend to cover them. i just wanted to make sure that the letters and everything would hold up in the 118 degree outside, plus whatever it is in the car, heat. so far so good. thanks for the compliments. also, if i can get the tan fabric at the store, i could do it. but let me see if it turns out..

Good job with those. I have done the same thing with my 79 T/A, and just need to jet them covered in headliner material. I'll post a pic as soon as I can. And foam core as you used is perfect as they press fit into place with out moving while driving.

I've been keeping an eye on this thread purely because I'm interested how the finished product turns out. I fear that if the petty bickering gets out of hand, the mods will remove thread altogether.

Start a 'Bitch' thread. It could be very entertaining. You could flame, accuse, threaten and spit at all your favourite forum members. :wwf:

sgt0704, filter out the constructive criticism and ignore the plain negative posts. You need not defend your creativity... Looking forward to the finished pics :Pics:

I was thinking bowties. I'd like something like that in the boot, err trunk...

illcul8troffcr

Trunk, I think you guys call it? The empty space between the back seat and rear bumper. :booty:

the only issue i have is when the bitching goes back and forth between you and someone else. if you want to have an internet dick measuring contest, cool, just don't do it on "MY" thread.

Which is why I am going to clean up this thread.
