Hey guys in the next few days i will be going to the track with my '99 Z28 6 spd for the first time. I am wondering what do you guys do to prep your cars? I am obviously going to empty any crap out of my car to save weight, but what else should i do? I read to have a 1/4 tank of gas. I have 245/50/16 street tires - what psi should i run them at? Any tips for a first timer?

24 psi hold revs to 2200 rpms. lift clutch pedal to where you feel it grab, then push in slightly. when light come s down, let out clutch without giving it gas. so long as the tires are holding, start pushing the gas pedal as fast as posible without getting any tire spin. if you do get tire spin, let off the gas and get back on.

Hey take everything out you can like jack/tire/floor mats. I heard its best to run the back tires at 30psi and the front ones around 40. If you deflate drag radials too much they cup and you get less traction.

That's good advice. A lot of people don't realize that radial tires have hard sidewalls unlike slicks that have soft sidewalls designed to 'wrinkle'. Radials wont wrinkle, but like firesilver said just cup in the center and put less rubber to the track.

Don't get sucked into doing a big John Force type burnout. You don't need to. Just roll your tires over a bit to get the dirt off of them. Good luck
