View Full Version : Where can I find a Formula 1 like wing for a '99 Camaro?

Hi There,

I saw a Corvette today in St Petersburg Beach, FL that
had a Formula 1 style strut mounted wing and it looked
really good. Unfortunately, I was unable to flag the person
down to ask questions. This wing was clearly made for
the larger car an not those which are made for the
smaller "Rice Burners"!

Anyway, that once again kindeled my long standing
desire to put a similar wing on my '99 Camaro SS.
I have searched and searched on the Internet and
have never been able to find one. All I can find is
the smaller ones for the small cars and they would
not look right.

Does any one know who might make these large
enough for the Camaro? Also, where I might
find one to purchase?

Cant see anyone helping with this b/c they will want to flame for rice, I ahve seen one that goes over the stock spoiler, looks pretty ugly. I think you are talkabout the one that looks like the camaro/corvette race car on gran turismo or something like that. http://test.sjang.com/archive/gt3/bug5pic1.jpg

+1000 you have great taste in having a Camaro. Please, please don't show poor taste by putting something on your car that it's not ment to have...

:eek2: Dear god NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Those wings are hands down the most tasteless thing anyone could EVER do to ANY car! Unless your car frequently exceeds 180mph, this is a terrible idea.

Edit: ...I just NOW realize that this thread is older than dirt, but I was searching around and it just smacked me in the face...I couldn't even help but react instinctively, lol!

Whelp, RU guys having fun? Nope, no green headlights, or any other of that
junk. Not even mudflaps or foxtails! Sorry to disappoint you.

It does have fully upgraded suspension, dyno at 425 rwhp, 373 gear, MS6,
4+1 stereo w/separate amps and more. I bought it new.

As for the wing, I could care less if you folks want to continue to gaff me
about it. I like it and that is all that matters to me. Take a look, it may
not be as bad as you think. I get lots and lots of thumbs-ups from other Camaros,
Mustang GTs and Corvettes. So far, no thumbs-downs! How's your thumbs-up
count?

Yea, see...that pic proved my point. Sorry man but that wing is tacky...it looks absolutely terrible.:Puke:

The people who give thumbs up aren't talking about the wing. Either that or they know squat about cars and just give thumbs up to every big flashy sports car they see. I think there'd be maybe, mayve 3 people on this forum that would actually like that wing, and they'd all be disturbed. Plus...most people would be too nice to walk up to someone and say their wing looks like garbage.

I've noticed most people in these forms don't like anything unique. if it doesn't look like a stock Camaro or Firebird they don't like. it seems the only thing they will tolerate is new wheels and maybe some vinyl stripes. well some of us don't want our cars to look like something you just drove off the showroom floor. now personally I like the wing. it's funny the way all these guys cry rice you would think they are over 60

Personally I have a hard time visualizing the wing looking good because it is straight no curves and the camaro is all curves but this one matches the car in paint and doesn't look so bad, in fact I actually kinda like it. The car looks good with it and it'd look good without it. When trying new things definitely think about it twice and becareful to make sure its what you want. If you like it then that's all that should matter. just make sure it looks good to you.

It's not so much like we're over 60, as much as we're over 16. Different is great, I hate stock looking cars. TASTELESS is another matter entirely. Many people have absolutely NO idea how to make a car look tasteful. Maybe next you'd add some chrome or gold trim, spinners, maybe some tape to cover the top half of the headlight and make the car look "angry"?? And hey, maybe some mirror red tint and some red headlights to accent the color of the car! And why not powdercoat the rims chrome-green?! THAT would be really "unique"!:barfonu:

The car has rounded lines, the wing is boxy...need I say more? It'd take a 5 year old to realize you cant put a square peg in a round hole. The stock wing on that car has a curve to it...there's NO ROOM or place for another wing on top of it; it's integrated into the lines of the car. If it was a boxy car WITHOUT a wing maybe it'd have a very slim possibility of pulling off this look, but it's not and it doesn't. Why not put an erector set wing on an existing 98-02 Trans Am wing that's already 3" high? By your logic that'd look damn AMAZING too! Adding a wing on top of a wing is f*cking disgusting, PERIOD. Originality isn't the problem, stupidity is.

And there's also an old saying, "If it ain't broke..." F-bodies have better styling than almost ANY cars on this earth, they don't need much to look good. Hence the logic of most of the forum. Take a stock f-body, drop it a bit, tint it, add a hood(if it doesn't have one), and some rims and you have sex on wheels!

Yea me either...that's what usually gets me in trouble. People don't like the criticism...they always piss and cry when I tell them their car looks f*cking dumb(because they know I'm right). And so far the only people who ever argue with me are the ones with NO TASTE. I've had many people who are very hard to impress tell me I have a decent eye for styling on cars, especially since modding cars is pretty much the ONLY thing on my mind 24/7. I've also come up with tons of "unique" modding ideas for cars that don't look like sh*t(like my soon to be patented 4th gen gauge pod)...other people should try doing the same.
