I recently installed an arp crankshaft underdrive pulley with the new a/c belt and accesory belt. now when i start the car up it squeeks for a few minutes untill, i'm just guessing, that it warms up. im pretty sure its not thte belts and am afraid i didnt put enough oil on the pulley before i installed it. i took an oil can the other day and shot the back of the pulley while the car was running and it went quiet instantly. im afraid im damaging the car every second i let the engine run. does anyone have any suggestions besides taking it back out and lubing it again? :Potty:

Why are you putting oil on the pulley? When you changed the pulley did you torque it down right with the old bolt and then replace the bolt with a new one at a lower torque setting. I forget the numbers but if you don't have the pulley pushed on with the old bolt all the way the belts aren't going to be aligned right and you'll get rubbing and squeeking until you throw the belt.

He is correct. Make sure the pulleys are align.

Its the belt that is sqeaking not the pulley.

i went by the book just like you guys said. i torqued it down with the old bolt and then took the new bolt and did the lower torque. can i tryto tighten the bolt a little more right now? or do i need to buy another bolt and do it over again. which i am really not wanting to do

There could be a defect in your torque wrench, or maybe even the belts. If you've done everything right you shouldn't have any squeeks. try a new set of belts and if that doesnt work just return them. i think you could get away with taking the bolt off and putting the old one back on to torque it again if you have to. anyone else have any ideas?

I'm gonna give a bump to this thread cause I have the same problem. SLP pulley, goodyear gatorback belts. Squeaking is getting worse.

Try a different belt set if you haven't double checked everything. Doesn't solve it just return them back

Hooray the squeeking stopped! It wasn't the belts it was the pulley. I was told that the pulley just had to settle in.:)

it went down gradually to where it hardly did it and one day it was gone. i didnt even realize it because i had gotten used to it

I installed an asp crank pulley with wd-40 and an impact gun with the old bolt, no problems been running little over 10k now worked great, of course had i known better i would have measured the distance the pulley went in, used a new bolt, although u dont have too, and greased it up......found out thats the proper way
