This is my sirst post so take it easy. I have Nitto 555's right now and I am not very impressed with them at the strip. I cannot cut less than 2.2 60' times. I know this is a low profile tire and if I am going to try for a good take off I should just get a set of drag slicks for my 16" wheels. But I am looking for some new tires and was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback that runs that size and has a tire combo that would hook up for me. I don't want to spend mor than $650 on a set of 4. I have a 98 M6 Z-28 Thanks

You sure you should be putting 275's on 16 inch wheels? I thought they got 245's.

Try F-body Motorsports for tires.

I'm also looking for some cheap street tires right now in 275/40/18 and 245/45/17. Looks like Kumho has some ASX tires for 160 in 275 profile. That is about the cheapest I've found. The eagle G1 DS3 that I have on their now are too expensive and I'm not buying again.

I really like those Kumho tires, that is a great price. I hear that Kumho=traction, quick wear, where as the expensive tires like Goodyear G1s and last longer. I like those Kumhos, but they only come in 275/35, I wanted 40. 18 inch wheels with 40 profile tires already makes traction hard enough. What is WR, I think if I remember right it is as good as Z rating. I definitely can't afford the Goodyear F1s again.

I had Kuhmos (275/40 17s) and loved them. I corner hard, but rarely light up the rears so they lasted FOREVER (48k). I balanced and rotated them religiously, so that helps.

Do not get AVON Tyres - they really suck handleing wise.

I am looking for a tire that hooks up on acceleration really good. Cornering is secondary to acceleration. How do those Kuhmo's hold up??

you should be getting the Nitto 555R, not the 555.
the 555R is a drag radial tire... and is good on the street.

The only thing that scares me is the tread life on these tires. I know these would be the best for the strip, but I want the tires to last me more than 1 year.

should last 15k-20k miles depending on the amount of burnouts you do.
