Alternator noise

Hi, I had my alternator replaced a few weeks ago, and have noticed since that I now have a distinct alternator whine through the speakers.....
Was there a ground wire n the alternator that the idiots might have left off or eliminated? Only other repair was a new battery which should not affect the radio....

What type of alt. did they replace it with?

I actually needed a new battery, it fried the Napa alternator that I put on the car, I had a weird problem of my lights and accessories "flaring: for lack of a better term, so I replaced the alt., thinking I lost a diode, Then the new one smoked, and I limped back into the dealer, lucky for me I had the original in the trunk, had them reinstall it, but now I have an annoying whine?????
I have not had a chance to crawl back under it, but I recall a ground strap on the original when I removed it, I am thinking that they did not reinstall the strap, I need to check it out this weekend. Hope that that is all it is......
