I'm having my 3:73 gears installed tonight into my 98 T/A LS1 Conv. It came with the 2:73 gears. Will I have to worry about any body flex? Why did they have the 2:73's in my car? Did only the Conv. come them?:dunno:

Thanks, Jeff

You have an auto I bet. I have 3.42s in mine.

I would have done a converter first.

Converter? what would be the benefit, and how much would that be? I'm paying a guy $100.00 plus parts to install them, and I got the gears cheap in a package dea.

Converters are at least $500. But can shave off .5 second in the 1/4 mile.

At least a stall of 3000 rpm's.

What are your plans for the car??

I am going to move this to the Auto forum

I just want it to have more low end torque. I don't want to be embarassed if I do a little racing. My main question though is about body flex, I don't want to ruin my baby. Being a vert, with the 2:73's I just wanted to know if they put them gears in for body flex reasons.

Has nothing to do with fact it's a vert, I just picked up a '99 vert and it has 3.23 gears (and I used to own a '99 T-top car with the 2.73 rear). Just invest in some subframe connectors if your worried about the body flex, that should definately help.
