I have a 2000 trans am. Has anyone installed those ls1 fuel rail covers? I am having a hard time getting them in. They said they should fit 1998-2002 cars with the ls1 engine. Help please :cry:

Put in myself, you're going to have to do a little delicate man handling to get them in. The driver's side probably was the trickiest, get the cables in the slots first then work the top over the manifold. I don't think you can get them in without a little rub/scratch on manifold, just take your time.

Depends on where you bought them, ...
Do they have the two slots on the drivers side?
Do you still have the AIR & EGR stuff?
Have you made any modifications to the covers at all?

We need more details about your application!



FYI, I make these custom covers in my spare time, & have done literally dozens of them. They are a bit of a tricky situation to install, but not that bad. I'd have to say it can easily be done in at least a half hour time.

i've made them a lot of times too.. you have to do some trimming and such to get them to fit properly. my last car didn't have any of the air tubes or egr stuff so it just really depends on what your car does have on it for them to fit right.

i have made no mods to the covers nor the engine
what r the AIR & EGR stuff? (I just got this car, i'm only 17) :)

Look at the photos of other covers to determine what should or should not be trimmed in order to make them fit. If you're doing it all yourself, it's a trim & fit trial over & over until you get comfortable with them.

As noted above, if you remove all the excess AIR & EGR tubing, granted there will be less trimming necessary. There's also the issue of the throttle bracket & the oil dipstick, ...

There are some sellers of this kind of product on eBay they 'claim' they'll fit the F-body, ..., But don't let them fool ya, ..., there's usually still some modifications required. They simply don't just fall in to place that easily.

Yeah the covers have to be trimmed. I made a few too and trimming them perfect is the tricky part

When I was putting my fuel rail covers in, i got the passenger side in fine, but on the driver's side in order for the two fuel lines to go through the slots i would have to bend them the wrong way. Is this ok? Isn't it worse for performance and internal engine? Any help would be appreciated.

If they're installed correctly, the fuel lines should lay right back in to the same spot as they were before. With no unnecessary oddball bends, ...

Need more details, ...
Are they pre-cut?
Where specifically are you having trouble?
Do you know there are a couple minors things necessary to do to the engine bay in order to eliminate a couple interferences?
Are they the style with two slots?
Did the previous owner have them installed?
Did the previous owner offer up any assistance?
