how to tell if its a real WS6 trans am

How can I tell if a real trans am is a true WS6 and not a clone..Would that be in the VIN? If so what should the digit be in the VIN?

WS6 will be listed on the drivers door tag. You will see a bunch of RPO codes and that will be in there.

it will be a manual transmission also

It doesnt have to be manual to be a WS6, mines A4 and a WS6 and so are alot of other peoples. Just look at the code on the door.

thats right it doesnt have to be manual.. there are more auto WS6s more than manual WS6s l believe.. the onnly way you can tell is just check the door codes and it will tell you everything..

What is the real question. Do you want to know what motor you have? Get the number off your intake and heads. If it is a 01 or 02 you may actually have an LS6. WS6 if I am not mistaken is listed by GM as a suspension package.

Sorry ... no F-bodies came with a "LS6" motor. All 01/02s came with an LS6 intake. Some had a "LS6" block. And I would hesitate to call it that. GM basically redesigned the LS1 block and all the LS6s got the new block, while some of the LS1s also did as it was moved into the supply chain.

No F bodies came with the LS6 heads. Also the LS6 has a different cam, pushrods and the PCV is built into the valley cover.
