Has anyone ever tried to swap a ls1 engine into a 86 Jeep Cherokee 4x4? (has a 2.8L v6) Is there anyway to convert it so you could use the existing transmission, or would you have to do more than a conversion? Let me know if It can be done. Thanks

Antything is possible, but I don't think that tranny would hold up. There might be a conversion kit out there but I doubt it. Hell fab one up and then start selling them.

Is the jeep 5 speed or automatic? If it has the T-5 5 speed then it should handle a stock ls1 and may even bolt up if I remember correctly, since the 84-86 jeeps had the chevy v6. If it doesn't bolt up, then advanceadapters.com should sell the adapter you need.

i've seen this done before but you need to use the t56

It has the 2.8L v6, the transmission is a auto 3 speed, it's 4x4 and if I was to get a t56 would the 4wheel drive still be functioning? And any places where a good cheap t56 can be found? Let me know more. If I can't use the 4wheel drive then I'm just probably going to get a 98 s10 extreme and drop it in there..
