I got a 02' WS6 automatic..... ok I have narrowed down what I wanted to do with my car, I was looking to get a Turbo Kit and than of course all the nessicary options to go along with it... I am told the automatic works well with a turbo.... But I am also curious about the torque convertor route... like the TCI streetfighter 3500 stall, with the cam, headers, shift kit, and trans cooler... I dont know which set up would give out the most hp... could somebody help me out a bit? I want the better set up of the two and need some others to kinda guide me a long a bit since Im kinda new to the LS1.. thanks!.... (by the way, I have around 3 grand to spend on whatever set up I choose, so for any advice the turbo kit has to be cheaper or around that price)

the turbo kit will not be cheaper. the cheapest kit you can find is the sts rear mounted turbo which is an awesome kit. its starting at aound 4 grand. then you have to upgrade your fuel injecotrs, fuel management, etc. i would go the torque converter heads cam headers route. to get your turbo goin on your car the right way its gonna cost you around $5500 bucks with the sts.

its all going to be very expesive especially if your not installing your self.

heads/cam/headers/converter route= $3000 + installation and dyno tune ($1200) roughly 4200 bucks

Turbo route= $5000-5500+ installation and dyno tune ($1200)
roughly $6700

just guestimates based on the guys that do the work on my car.

well if I take the torque convertor route I can do it myself, but if I get a turbo kit i rather have somebody do it for me because im not too familiar with it.. but I found a decent turbo kit on ebay and i priced everything out to be $2200, but I am still looking at what has the better performance, idk which route would give more hp because I know I can get what I need for under 3 g's if I do some shopping around. but thanks for the help!

the turbo is the best option.
if you can get a good price on one, go for it.

I would go the TC/heads/cam route.. just got a 3800 vig myself and its awesome... just wondering why you would not get a TC with your turbo setup also?

A TC should be your first mod.

I went the STS route first, but I have a torque converter sitting in my living room just waiting to be installed.
My tune for my turbo was only $600, but I did get the injectors, pump, plugs (they have to be regapped anyway) and a set of gauges (absolutely required). I also got the upgraded turbo and the pressure switch so I can run a lower boost on the street (5 psi) and kick it up at the strip (8 psi).
I love it.
