i've had my SS for 3 days now. I've been driving a long bed extended cab Z-71 silverado. I'm loving the mileage with the camaro. i don't know how much the camaro tank holds, but i have been doing $75.00 a week with the truck at $2.60 a gallon. Yes $2.60. That's SC price. And i have not been real easy on the car since i got it. I am loving the hell out of it. I have been having horsepower withdrawls since i wrecked my 72. Its in the body shop now. you can see it on my homepage. also check out my buddies 77 280 z with the 383 stroker at the bottom of the page. It will pull the front tires off the ground. sorry about the rant.

I get 17 in town. I've got an MTI power package on it too. I shift at 2000 rpm in town and about 3500 rpm when I get on the on ramp to the interstate. Don't know about highway mileage yet. I haven't been on a long trip.

i get around 20-22 in town when not playing and using the crappy skip shift.
on my last trip to Atlanta i got 25mpg but i also raced a sl500 and a 06 gt. trust me its way better than a H3! and my car is all stock.

I get about 18 mpg in mixed driving. Mind you i'm typically in rush hour traffic in California. If I just drive on the freeway i've gotten 24mpg.

I have 4.10 gearing and a Z06 Cam.

I usually shift at just over 2000. I shift 1-3-5 and get about 18-20 in town. My last roadtrip was to st louis and i got just under 30 cruising at about 85 or so.

18.5 mpg, everyday driving. I haven't taken a highway jaunt yet, but the previous owner said he got upwards of 29 mpg on an all-interstate trip. Only on my fourth tank, but the first one pinged at higher rpm's so it was lower octane and it got 17 mpg. Last two tanks were 93 and got 18.5 mpg. This tank will be the first with Mobil 1 synthetic. I bet it will go up slightly.

I run BP (Amoco) 93 octane and Mobil 1 synthetic 5w30. I don't believe he did. I also have an SLP lid, all the free mods, and a Flowmaster exhaust (previous owner installed). I row through all the gears, easy on the throttle, but maintain at least 1500 rpm in the highest gear chosen. I haven't had a manual for a number of years, so I enjoy shifting. I'm gonna buy that skip shift cut-off. That is an irritating feature. Also gonna likely install a Pro 5.0 shifter.

city - 17-22 mpg (depending on conditions and my driving choice)
highway - 29-32 mpg (depending on conditions & normally with cruise control on @ 80 mph)

It varies between what gas I get too. I know everyone says it's a myth, but my car HATES Shell/Citgo but loves Sunoco. :dunno: With 93 Sunoco she gets 19-20 city and high 20's highway.

Nope. Just last month I got 30.6 driving across Ohio on the interstate.

My father has eeked 33 out of his 2000 Ram Air.

It's very easy to do... set cruise at 75... for 400 miles

Around town I'm anywhere between 18-22 depending on how I drive.

Finally took a trip of 100+ miles with my '99 M6. I took my six year old son to Tweetsie up in the mountains near Boone/Blowing Rock. About 70 miles on I-77 and I-40 (65-70 mph) and another 35 or so on 321 (45 zone mostly). Going UP it got a little over 26mpg. That's with Amoco 93 octane. I figure on the Interstate at 70-80 mph it probably gets high 20's, but I don't know if it would break 30mpg. The car has 68,000 on the original plugs and I am planning to give it a tune up with Iridiums and MSD wires. Maybe then I'll break 30mpg. :burnout:

I average about 18.5 to 19.5 mpg when the tank is 100% city driving...and that's sometimes getting on it hard to have fun as well, but its not like I floor it ALL the time. During the school year when I drive to school and back, and I would say that my tanks are about 70% highway and 30% city...I would get about 25-27 mpg...when it is virtually all highway, the mileage would be upwards of 28-29 mpg. I would guess right on 30 mpg if it was 100% highway cruise miles.

BTW, that is all on 87 octane up here in Denver. I'm now trying 91 to see if I can tell much of a difference in feel of the car/accel. and gas mileage etc.

my 02 ss gets around 15 city, and thats shifting between 2000 and 2500 rpm each time. when i first got the car that stupid 1st to 4th skip shift thing pissed me off, but with premium at $3.50 a gallon here in NY most of the time i just allow it to happen lol. on a long straight highway going about 80 in 6th gear with cruise control on id say i get close to 30 mpg (cause rpms are like 1900-2000). i'm hoping that after i redo my entire induction setup it'l give me at least a few more mpg.

I posted about 20 earlier and that was with a generic fuel system cleaner. I added the slick 50 cleaner and i sware it has made a difference in smoothness. unsure of any mpg gains though.

I take it easy around town and usually can't get 14 mpg. On a trip I can get about 27 to 32 mpg on the highway. June was the last time I broke 30 plus. I have probably hit 30 or more around 15 to 20 times. My highway mileage didn't change much w/the supercharger, but the city seems lower.

ss~zoso~ss
07-22-2006, 08:34 PM

I usually average between 22-24 mpg with an even mix of city and highway driving and an occasional run-up through the gears.

I avged 24mpg with 75% hwy and 25% city. I always tried to get into 6th as quickly as possible on the highway and backroads if it was level enough. You can get 29-30mpg on the highway if you live in a flat area, I just have a lot of hills.

I get 25 mpg or better on the highway (I do a lot of that). Around town it drops to a DISMAL 13 to 15 mpg. This is with all the mods listed below.

about 15 in town and 20 on interstate. Never had a full interstate jog and always giving it more gas.

With full bolt-ons...

I get about 16 mpg in the city, if I'm not too heavy on the gas.

On my last trip to LA, thanks to that 6th gear, I guess I was making about
23-25 mpg. I got almost double what I usually get driving in the city.

Roastem
07-26-2006, 07:22 AM
im gonna try that 1 to 3 to 5 shifting

It works really well with 4.10's, the 1-3-5 shift. I tried 2-4-6 shifting, but the first two gears in the T-56 for our cars are kinda tall, even with 4.10's. The only thing I don't like about driving with "some sense" is that I can't hear the vicious exhaust note below 3K rpm. It's like I am running around in a GT with a catless h-pipe and flows. Above 3K is where the exhaust note will make you pitch a tent, and panties start drippin'. Reach over there and rub on it, hell, it's like you stuck your hand in a mayo jar. :yum: haha

If you shift below 3K, and skip gears, and drive like an old ass lady, then maybe you could get 20 mpg in the city. What's the fun in that? If I wanted something that I had to baby and gets great gas mileage, I would get a frickin Hybrid Prius.

Last time I checked, there wan't a FORUM for PRIUS enthusiasts. haha

The gas mileage I get on the highway is a just a plus, in my opinion. We have RAW ass sport cars, that make big power, and if that means I have to sacrifice city mpg, then I think it is a good trade-off. I will sacrifice an extra 30 or 40 bucks a month so I can get out of my car with a smile on my face everytime.

21-22 or so, about 1/2 highway, 1/2 suburbs, use 5th and 6th a lot... and the cruise control.

Now a few thousand miles into this car. I've taken a couple of trips now and 27 MPG has been reached, but those trips involved some stop and go (not all Interstate). I believe it is capable of 29MPG on the highway like the previous owner said. The difference in everyday driving is 18.5 MPG driving normally, Getting a little more frisky drops it to just under 17.5 MPG.

Now for a tune up.
