Hi all,

Does anyone know if placing a 4 channel Alpine amp on the bottom of the rear well of a '00 Firebird will still leave enough room for the T-Tops to fit and still clear the amp?

I'd check myself (based on the amp's dimensions), but my car doesn't have the plastic hardware that holds the T-Tops (bought the car used and the previous owner had a Bazooka tube in the rear and lost the plastic hardware).

I'm replacing the tube with a stealth subwoofer so I can use the rear well for T-Top storage again. The amp is currently mounted on the bottom of the well, but I need to know if I have to relocate the amp.

If I do have to relocate the amp... can I move it to the either the front or rear vertical wall of the well and still not interfere with the T-Tops when stored?

TIA,
Marc

You can do what I did by mounting the amp on the rear wall.

Click my sig to see more detaill about the amp rack I made. If it's more than you think you can handle yourself check out the kit over at SubThump (http://www.subthump.com/acamarorack2.htm). It's based on my design.

Wow! That looks pretty nice. But... if I don't want to go with a Subthump type amp rack, could I simply mount the amp to the back wall with a couple brackets? I'd imagine so. I'm not all that concerned with how clean it all looks. I'm just more into the functionality. A few exposed (but neatly wrapped and tucked) wires don't worry me.

Thanks for the comments and ideas.
