Hello, I have a 454 30 over that I am putting together. I will be putting it in a 84 k20 truck with one ton axles. I have 148 heads that need rebuilding. My first question is shopuld I stick with the stock size vaves or go bigger with a set of 2.19 intake and 1.88 exhaust? I also have a choice of cams , a comp cam 520 lift 290 advertised duration, or edelbrock 500 lift with 292 advertised duration. I will be putting on a Edelbrock airgap intake with aEdelbrock750 Carb. I have been told many things of what do to I would be interested in hearind what you people have to say. Thank You!!

What exactly are you're goals with the Big Block though? Are you looking to run a certain number at the track, on the dyno, or are you simply building yourself a boulevard bruiser?

Thanks for the reply. I have a big truck and will use it for pulling and working. I will also use it on the street quite often. Looking for high performance but not something a person can,t drive on the street.

don't need larger valves. i would say to go with the comp cam just by the specs you listed. really need to know the rest of the specs of each cam to give a better opinion.
