Trust me, you do not want to add anything but atf dextron 3.
no additives in a t56, just the red stuff.

I have heard from some people that GM SynchroMesh is great stuff to use. Heard that from a couple different people with different trannies. Expensive though, but probably about like Royal Purple. Maybe easier to get.
i just used royal purple syncromax and i think i might have a problem with my transmission its just being noisy to the point that its annoying like i hear a winding noise. so i think i need to recheck the fluid level to see if i need to add some?? but with the royal purple it acctauly seems to put down alil more power from what i noticed on the way home from the change i found that strange? may be its just me.

I have used Royal Purple Synthetic ATF for 100,000 miles with excellent results.

This is kinda like the "Which motor oil is best?" debate. As long as you go with a good, quality fluid, you'll be fine. Everybody I know says Red Line ATF III is the way to go, but that may be because it's real easy to find around here.

I've tried several. GM dextron III, Valvoline syn., Redline D4, and Redline MTL. Redline D4 works the best outta those. I'm gonna ditch the MTL soon here and go back to the D4.

Why would you take the hear-say ord from any board over the manufacturer's recommended fill? Do you have $2k in you pocket itching to spend on a rebuild? Water would work for awhile. Save $$ and agrevation and stick with the DexIII ATF that is the spec. oil.
