new trans am no key fob

Hey all I just recently purchased a 1999 trans am and it does have the anti-theft I beleive because the alarm started going off when I was playing with the unlock lock on the door, didnt turn off till I started the car, can I just get a universal remote from autozone and do the things mentioned in the faq? or Do I need to get the one from the dealership with part # 16245100 i have a little LED by the center of the defroster so im guessing I have the anti-theft, does anyone know how much that keyfob cost? and does it just unlock the doors or what else does it do? thanks guys! :date:

Look on Ebay for keyless entry. I had one from my 01 Camaro and reprogrammed it to work on my 00 Firebird, so any 98-02 fob should do, if it is the stock keyless entry system. If not, then I dunno! ...Good luck

Yeah, check ebay - but get a new one. Remote Entry Lock Control is RPO code AU0, and Theft Deterrent System is UA6 - codes are in the drivers side door.
