I've heard alot about taking off the front and rear bumper supports to shed weight...

Before I go to taking stuff off the car, could someone tell me how one would go about doing this? What do I have to take off to get to it and how big an operation is it? How much weight is going to get off?

its a pain in the ass.. And doesnt help that much.. I have already tried it.

Loose the passengers seat and the spare tire/ jack etc while at the track. If you start taking stuff out like that you will be sorry...in the long run

Just remove the front one if you drive the car on the street. The rear one protects your gas tank in event of someone whacking you. It isn't that big of a deal to remove the front. You do lose the foglights as they are attached to the bumper support. I removed mine years ago, and even removed the foam. However my car is primarily a race car with limited street duty.

This mod of and by itself probably did little to help performance. As part of an overall weight reduction plan, though, I'd have to say this should be part of it. For a mostly track car that is. They're coming out of my overweight pig this week. :yup: Along with anything else I can find that's just along for the ride and doesn't help the car go down the track more quickly. Realize that my car is not a daily driver though and, like I'm sure others will mention, I don't recommend this mod for a daily driver. Too many idiots on the road these days talking on their cell phones totally oblivious to the fact that you may have had to stop in front of them for whatever reason. Just consider that before removing them.
