I Plan On Getting Ceramic Hooker Lt Headers And Was Told I Needed To Get The Ls1 Edit To Maximize Hp At The Rear Wheels.

What Exactly Does The Ls1 Edit Consist Of... Who Can Do This... And What Does It Cost.

Thanks In Advance For Any Help,
Chris

LS1 edit is tuning software.

So is HPtuners.

You buy the software, and use a laptop computer to tune and change parameters in your car.

It costs around $450. Plus many many hours of reading and tuning. The stickies at the top of this forum tell you more.

I really wouldn't think just a header change would require any mapping changes. IMHO, LS1edit is for those who make major mods, and changed the vacuum and power range of the motor.

if I do AFR cylinder head/cam I would require LS1Edit tuning. I can go to the dyno shop here, the question is after doing this pro tune, will I loose the tuning configuration
if the battery goes dead, replace it .. things like that? or if I take it to a shop later on, would the tech people revert to factory settings? if it is "yes" then I will spend 400 for it and run into the possibility of needing to reload the LS1edit profile.. please comment. :dunno:
Thanks

You will not lose any programming changes if the battery goes dead. However, I always question those who spend big bucks for a tune when they could spend a little time and do it themselves. I burn TPI chips and sell them on E-Bay. I can get close, but never perfect. If you do it yourself you can make changes at anytime, and you can perfect the tune to your driving habits.

Tuning after headers might not be necessary for the car to run - but damn, you are missing out on a lot of power if you skip over it.

Did headers, ported throttle body, and LS6 intake same weekend. took it have it dyno tuned and dropped from 335RWHP to 317RWHP ... mkostly 'cause it was running rich. When I walked away from the dyno, I was at 360 RWHP. That was on old stock bottom motor with just a 220/220 cam and most bolt-ons. Getting it tuned made a difference of 43 RWHP ... of course, that was with more than just headers, but, you get the point, I'm sure ... not a necessity with a header change, but, you'll want to get the full potential out of you rcar, so, I would go to a 'dyno day' and at least do several pulls with adjustment of the A/F ratio ... cost you about $40.00 ... well worth it IMHO.
