.........which I just received. Brembos for my '99 TransAm.

I've replaced the OEM set w/EBCs over 4 years ago. The problem is two-fold. I've recently moved so I don't have all my tools or shop manual yet........still in storage. Guess I'll have to go buy the correct sockets to replace them. That's problem no. 1......what sizes are used to remove the calipers. Problem no. 2.......old mind fart.......how are they removed? Anyone have a picture from a manual that shows them 'blown' apart?

Of course I can see what to do, but in using the 1/2" socket (about the only one I have right now) to remove the 'thingy' that holds the pads.......all that happens is the bolts just keep spinning and not backing out.

Any HELP??? :dunno: :Ohno:

Thanks, C.R.

If you look at the caliper, there should be 2 little rubber boot looking things where the 2 bolts are going, if you move the rubber a little you will see why they arent backing out, you need to get a pair of pliers or something and grab that piece. I dont really know how to explain it, hopefully that helped. Just move the little rubber boot a little and use the socket and see what spins w/ it. then grab it so it wont spin, and use the socket and it should come off.

i believe a 16mm wrench will keep the slides from spinning and the caliper bolts should come right out

Thanks guys.........I got it. In fact, I just removed the whole caliper w/o removing the brake pad holder, just the 2-18mm bolts that held the calipers, pushed the pad back into place w/a clamp and slipped it back over the newly installed rotors.
