its really like they are very small cracks. I have no freaking idea what caused them I always take extreme caution when Im washing it. I have heard the same thing but if i f@#$ it up Im out a headlight.

It's the plastic breaking down from a lot of UV light exposure from the sun. You've got a '99 and I suppose it has been outside most all the time, so you're due for new headlights. You could try the wet sanding then polishing to make them last a little longer, but you're going to have to replace them before long.

Once their cracking it's all over. Mine did the same thing, 1500 and 2000 wouldn't help a bit. So I bought some VHT Niteshade spray paint and took care of it that way.

No! Don't buy new headlights you can fix them. Anyone who says sanding didn't fix theirs didn't go at it long enough...You'll need to spend at least an hour on each headlight depending on how bad they are...Start with 400, then 800, then finish with 1000...

Here's mine in the process:

And after:

That pic is during the sanding process! When you're done sanding the whole headlight will dry to a white haze (need to sand it further than mine, I wasn't done there). That's when you take a polish like Meguiar's Plastx and finish it off...takes many coats of that to make it shiny again.

Thanks for all the info I will probably try to sand them out this winter. I just did'nt want to screw them up and be forced to buy replacements like a friend of mine did with his supra at $800 a piece(lol hes a dumd ass). Ill try it and see what happens. nice car Kaliente again.

Takes me about a minute 1-1/2 or 2. It's real easy.

You can either turn the bulbs to take them out, or unclip the connectors. Then remove the 10mm bolt on the back of the assembly. While pushing in, slide the headlight towards the center of the car to slide the plastic clips off of the brackets, then it will come off.

Wet sand, then buff, like you would paint. My friend did that and they came out great,
